THE 411

Dan Gauthier was born and raised in Central Oregon, where he was inspired to act at an early age by his mother, who was a stage actress in local theaters. At 18, he moved to California to attend San Diego State University, where he became very interested in sports, especially track. Gauthier began modeling in both New York and Los Angeles with the Ford and Nina Blanchard Agencies. But he was again introduced to show business by a friend and went on to land his first movie role as the teenage heartthrob Brad Powell in 1989's Teen Witch.

While attending San Diego State University, he obtained numerous acting credits. His prime-time television credits include recurring roles on MELROSE PLACE, BEVERLY HILLS, 90210, ELLEN, COURTHOUSE and SISTERS, and guest-starring roles on WILL & GRACE, FRIENDS, STILL STANDING, CUPID and CHARMED. He also appeared in the feature films Son In Law and Groom Lake, the latter directed by William Shatner. In 2000, Gauthier displayed his comedic talent in the short film The Right Hook. He became the 11th actor to portray Kevin Buchanan when he joined the cast of OLTL in June 2003.

Gauthier met his wife, Lisa Fuller (ex-Dawn, GH), during the filming of Teen Witch. The two married in 1990 and shortly after had their son, Cole.

IN HIS WORDS

"All you have to do is watch my acting and you'll be like, 'Wow, he's either really good at playing confused, or he is really confused.' " — Soap Opera Weekly (during the OLTL/AMC crossover story), 1/18/05

"You really don't know what amazing love is until you have a child. Even if you love your wife or husband, it's a different thing. It's that unconditional-type, amazing thing." — Soap Opera Digest, 6/22/04

"My parents used to get me into bars when I was a kid by having me sing. My favorite song back then was, 'I Am Woman,' which was more appropriate for a drag queen." — Digest, 6/8/04

"Some fans have compared me to [Kevin No. 9] Kevin Stapleton. I get a lot of letters; apparently, people really liked this Kevin Stapleton guy. I've gotten comments like, 'He used to be my favorite, but now you are.' " — Digest, 6/1/04

"Honestly, I don't think of myself as sexy. I think of myself as being kind of a goofball." — Digest, 5/4/04
