Laura Wright

Growing up in Clinton, MD, Laura Wright was a huge soap fan, one devoted to the ABC Daytime lineup. After high school, she was working 12-hour shifts at her family’s gas station and doing some local modeling while taking acting classes. It was in 1991 that her teacher submitted a tape of Wright to the Loving casting director. The fortuitous move led to the rising star booking the role of Ally Rescott, a part she continued to play through the soap’s transition to The City in 1995.

Shortly after The City went off the air in 1997, Wright joined Guiding Light as stripper-turned-princess Cassie Layne. When her contract expired in 2005, Wright moved across the country to take over the role of General Hospital’s Carly Corinthos. For her portrayal of Carly, Wright has earned seven Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the Outstanding Lead Actress category, taking home the win in 2011. The proud mother of two grown children, Lauren and John, Wright is a tennis fan and enjoys playing pickleball in her free time. She lives in California with her partner, soap alum Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter, GH), and their dog, Kimba.
