Thorsten Kaye

Thorsten Kaye was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and appeared in stage productions of Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, and Hamlet in London and Detroit. Moving to Los Angeles, the actor appeared in some movies before landing the role of Patrick Thornhart on One Life to Live in 1995. After his 1997 exit, Kaye appeared in primetime series like Sliders and Air America before returning to daytime in 2000 to play Patrick’s brother, Dr. Ian Thornhart, on General Hospital spinoff Port Charles.

After PC’s cancellation in 2003, Kaye joined the cast of All My Children as Zach Slater in 2004. Although he left the soap in 2009, the actor made occasional appearances in 2010 and reprised the role in 2011 as AMC ended its run on ABC, as well as in 2013 for the short-lived online revival. Later that year, Kaye took over the role of Ridge Forrester on Bold and Beautiful. The actor had received Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his work on PC and AMC, and earned additional nods for B&B, taking home Lead Actor trophies in 2023 and 2024. In between AMC and B&B, he played the recurring role of Nick Felder on NBC’s musical series Smash. Kay met his wife, Susan Haskell, while on OLTL, where she played Marty Saybrooke, and they have two daughters, McKenna (b. February 2003) and Marlowe (b. January 2007).
