Legions of soap fans were ecstatic for the recent return of Angie and Jesse, daytime's first black supercouple, on ALL MY CHILDREN. Debbi Morgan, the TV and film icon who portrays Angie, couldn't be happier. Although work has been plentiful in the 18 years since she initially left the show, she frequently notes that she's always felt at home with AMC.

When Morgan joined the cast of GENERATIONS in 1990, many felt it to be an odd career move. She left AMC to play the recast of Chantal Marshall on a show that critics deemed worthy, but ratings deemed otherwise. When GENERATIONS ended in 1991, she did a string of television guest spots, including A DIFFERENT WORLD, THE COSBY SHOW and ROC before reprising her landmark AMC character, Angie Baxter Hubbard, on THE CITY.

The late 1990s were quite busy. She worked on Eve's Bayou, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Lynn Whitfield, Victoria Rowell (ex-Dru, Y&R), and Tamara Tunie (ex-Jessica, ATWT). After filming, Morgan scrubbed up for a two-year spot on PORT CHARLES as Dr. Ellen Burgess. Leaving daytime once more, she costarred in the 1999 film, The Hurricane, with Denzel Washington.

With a long list of guest spots — ANY DAY NOW, THE PRACTICE, STRONG MEDICINE, BOSTON PUBLIC, PROVIDENCE, CHARMED, GHOST WHISPERER and CLOSE TO HOME — she finally found her way back to daytime appearing on a few episodes of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL from 2006-2007. When announcement broke that Jesse (Darnell Williams) and Angie would be returning to AMC in early 2008, Morgan and Williams turned in nothing but tear-jerking performances. There's nothing like picking up where you left off.
