Matthew Atkinson got his start appearing in episodes of series like One Tree Hill and Drop Dead Diva, then landed the role of Nick Fadden on Jane By Design. After a recurring role on Parenthood, the actor joined the cast of Young and Restless as Austin Travers in 2014, remaining until the character was killed off in 2015. Atkinson went on to appear in television movies like Inspired to Kill and Sisters of the Groom, then returned to daytime as the newest Thomas Forrester on Bold and Beautiful in 2019. He and Brytnee Ratledge were married on November 8, 2023, and welcomed a son in the fall of 2024.
