Sweeney

Alison Sweeney

Sweet 16 when she debuted on Days of Our Lives, Alison Sweeney thoroughly embraced her assignment as troublemaker Sami Brady. After all, she was already an avid fan of the soap she joined in 1993 and originally starred on through 2014, returning sporadically throughout the years since her departure. The Los Angeles native came to DAYS with an impressive list of credits under her belt. After making her commercial debut in a Kodak ad at the age of 5, Sweeney went on to appear in the primetime series Family Man and Brand New Life.

Sweeney’s long run as Sami has earned her six Soap Opera Digest Awards. In 2002, she also won the Special Fan Award at the Daytime Emmy for America’s Favorite Villain.  In addition to her work on DAYS, Sweeney hosted NBC reality series The Biggest Loser (2007-15) and has published three books: Star Attraction Scared Scriptless: A Novel and Opportunity Knocks. She has also starred in and executive-produced (and occasionally co-written) the Hannah Swensen mystery series for the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film series, as well as Hallmark’s The Wedding Veil film series. Wed to former California Highway Patrolman Dave Sanov since 2000, Sweeney and her husband have two children: Benjamin, born in 2005, and Megan, born in 2009.
