Kirsten Storms knew she wanted to become an actress at age 5, when she’d accompany her sports director father, Mike, to work and pretended she was a weather girl. Workers at the station actually recorded her “forecasts” so that Storms could critique her performance.
While performing in a local acting showcase, she was discovered by a talent scout who persuaded her parents to enroll young Kirsten in a prestigious New York acting workshop. They did, and commercial work soon followed.
At 12, Storms landed her first TV series, the recurring role of Ashley on SECOND NOAH, and has worked steadily in the medium ever since. Her proverbial “big break” came when she was cast as the lead in the Disney Channel original movie ZENON: GIRL OF THE 21ST CENTURY. The project nabbed the highest rating ever for any Disney Channel program and spawned two sequels. In fact, Storms readily admits, “To this day, it’s still the No. 1 thing that people come up to me for.”
When she was 15, Storms found the role that would change her life — Belle, daughter of DAYS OF OUR LIVES supercouple John and Marlena. After a five-year run (and a Soap Opera Digest Award, see below), Storms left the sudser to try her luck at prime-time. She immediately landed a starring role on the baseball-themed series, CLUBHOUSE. Despite critical acclaim, however, the show languished in the ratings and was cancelled. Storms called it a heartbreaking experience, stating, “It was so sad when it ended, and how it ended was so hard because we had been pre-empted and moved around so many times, we never had a chance to build an audience.”
After a four-month break to spend time with family and friends, Storms had the itch to get back to work. GENERAL HOSPITAL was looking to recast the role of Maxie and with her impressive resumé and high-profile past daytime experience, Storms fit the bill. Shortly after landing the gig, GH cast the role of Jesse, a rebellious cop who’d become Maxie’s boyfriend. Ironically, the actor who won the role was Matt Marraccini, who also played Storms’s boyfriend on CLUBHOUSE. Happily ensconced in Port Charles, Storms notes, “I’m really fortunate that this is my job. It’s so cool.” Her official Web site is www.glamourgirlkstorms.com.
