Florencia Lozano was born in Princeton, NJ, and grew up in Newton, MA. Her parents, Eduardo and Elizabeth, are first-generation Latin-Americans (they emigrated from Argentina as a young married couple) and she has two sisters, Julieta and Paula.

After spending a year and a half at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Lozano transferred to Brown University in Providence, RI, where she majored in literature and was very active in theater. She said that while the Cornell campus was a beautiful place, it was too big for her. After her graduation from Brown, she moved to New York City and, as she said, "did all kinds of theater for two years." She was then admitted to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts graduate acting program and spent three years getting her master's.

In January 1997, Lozano landed her first TV role as ONE LIFE TO LIVE's attorney with an agenda, Téa Delgado. Lozano said she watched her district attorney sister in Queens for inspiration, in addition to reading John Grisham novels.

Lozano left OLTL in 2000 when her contract was up, saying, "I needed to leave for myself and wanted to do other things as an actor." She held true to her word and appeared onstage in various productions, including Love's Labour's Lost, a Shakespearean play produced out of Berkeley in Orinda, CA, and Where's My Money?, an off-off-Broadway production.

After various roles in TV, film and theater (and even a brief stint on OLTL in 2002), Lozano delighted fans by returning to her Llanview roots full-time in 2008, as she reprised the role of Téa.
