Deidre Hall

Deidre Hall was born in Milwaukee, WI, but grew up in Lake Worth, Florida. After high school, she moved to California and began working as a catalog model, appearing in commercials and landing guest spots in prime-time. She recurred on Emergency (1972-73) and co-starred in the 1978 series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. She landed her first soap, Barbara Anderson on Young and Restless, in 1973. In 1976, she won the role of Marlena on Days of Our Lives, a character she would go on to play for decades (1976-87, 1991-2009, 2011-present). Intermittently since 2004, Hall has also played a second DAYS role, Hattie Adams, who was originally played by her real-life twin sister, Andrea.

Outside of DAYS, Hall starred in the NBC prime-time drama Our House (1986-88) and in numerous TV movies, including Perry Mason: The Case of the All-Star AssassinWoman on the Ledge, and Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall, which detailed her personal struggles to conceive a child and ultimate choice to use a surrogate to welcome her sons, David and Tully.

Hall’s performance as Marlena garnered the Soapy Award (the precursor to the Soap Opera Digest Award) for Best Actress in 1982 and 1983 and the Digest Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1984, 1985 and 1995. She she has also received three Daytime Emmy nominations and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016.
