Bryton James began his acting career when he was just a toddler. He landed his very first commercial audition for Disney Mattel at the tender age of 2. By the time he was 3, Bryton won his first television series role, playing Richie on FAMILY MATTERS. He appeared on the show throughout its nine-year run.

When FAMILY MATTERS wrapped, Bryton took a break from acting, finishing up school and traveling through Europe. He also began pursuing a new career as a recording artist, releasing his first single, “Ooh, The Way I Feel About You,” on the German television series Stars 2000. Bryton has performed live on various international networks, as well as on the Disney Channel and other major broadcast networks in the United States.

Bryton was cast as Devon Hamilton on YOUNG AND RESTLESS in 2004; the character was a troubled teenager who had bounced around foster homes until he was taken in and ultimately adopted by the Winters family. In 2007 he won a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his work on the show. Bryton’s Y&R gig also landed him nominations for NAACP Image Awards as Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The actor is an active spokesperson for a number of charitable organizations. In fact, in 1996, he even founded one of his own: RADD (Recording Artists, Actors and Athletes Against Drunk Driving) Kids, which was awarded outstanding youth safety work by the United States government.

The bachelor resides in Southern California, where he spends his free time racing go-karts, snowboarding, and playing basketball and video games.
