Created by soap pioneers William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, Young and Restless — titled The Innocent Years while in development — premiered on CBS on March 26, 1973. Introduced alongside its signature theme song, “Nadia’s Theme, Y&R is set n the fictional city of Genoa City, WI. The soap revolves around the drama between the Newmans, Abbotts, Chancellors, and Winters families, featuring corporate intrigue, thrilling adventure, and stirring romance. Y&R has endured as the number one-rated daytime drama since October 3, 1988.

Y&R has earned 11 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, and 15 of its cast members have won acting Emmys. Some famous alumni who got their start on Y&R include David Hasselhoff, Tom Selleck, Shemar Moore, and Eva Longoria, and the show has featured cameos by celebs like Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Julie Chen.
