Jeanne Cooper began her acting career in the ’50s as a contract player for Universal, appearing in films like The Man From the Alamo, The Intruder, and The Boston Strangler. She also appeared on numerous primetime series in the ’50s and ’60s, like Maverick, The Untouchables, and Perry Mason. In 1974, she became a daytime soap star as Katherine Chancellor on Young and Restless, a role she played until 2013, with Cooper’s final episode airing shortly before she passed away. During her time on Y&R, Cooper earned multiple Daytime Emmy nominations, taking home a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 and Lead Actress in 2008. She also won the 1989 Soap Opera Digest Award for Lead Actress.
