Robert S. Woods originated the role of Bo Buchanan on ONE LIFE TO LIVE in 1979, a role which has earned him several accolades, including the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1983. Woods has earned six Daytime Emmy nominations, multiple Soap Opera Digest Award nominations and four MVP trophies from Soap Opera Update.

A Vietnam veteran, Woods attended California State University at Long Beach before embarking on what would be a long and successful acting career. After graduation Woods studied at the Film Actors Workshop, The James Best Theatre Centre, The Directors Lab and The First Acting Company Workshop. Woods starred in theater productions at Disneyland's Drama Workshop, and a dinner theater production of Barefoot in the Park before landing a role on the television series CITY OF ANGELS.

Six years after creating the role of Bo, Woods left ONE LIFE TO LIVE in order to tend to his ailing mother in Los Angeles, as well as pursue other acting avenues.

During his hiatus, Woods starred in the miniseries, WAR AND REMEMBRANCE, a local production of Stitch and Eubie, and several other television and film projects.

Woods returned to ONE LIFE TO LIVE in 1988 and has continued to pursue outside acting opportunities in addition to his work in Daytime television.

Memorable Quotes

"Like a lot of other men who were in Vietnam with me, we often thought about what would happen when we got home. That is, if we were lucky enough to survive and get home." — Soap Opera Digest, 1981

"I used to work with someone who I would do love scenes with and, during the break in the scene, I would apologize for having a 'chubby.' Now your readers will be wondering, 'Who was it that he had to apologize to?'" — Soap Opera Weekly, 10/01/96

"GUIDING LIGHT was the first soap I ever got hooked on. Back in the '70s, I used to watch reruns of ALL IN THE FAMILY at 2 in the afternoon, but I would always tune in a little early and catch the end of GUIDING LIGHT. There was this guy, Roger... what a sick puppy. And there was this beautiful nurse, Rita. I thought she was the hottest thing to come down the pike." — Digest, 8/05/97

"I was in a fraternity and that was more important to me. So I took a break from school and life. I was [at the draft board] for about 10 minutes when I volunteered for the Special Forces; and here my mom was, just praying I wouldn't get into the Marine Corps." — Weekly, 5/18/99

"We're not going for laughs, we're going for smiles in the midst of some heavy stuff. That's what's entertaining. Especially when you throw these two guys into a gay bar in New York." — On OLTL characters Bo and Rex, Weekly, 5/24/05
