In Memoriam
André Landzaat, who originated the role of Tony Cassadine on GH, passed away at the age of 81. Born and raised in the Netherlands, he studied acting in Paris and New York before training beside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino at The Actors Studio. In 1981, he became the first actor to be cast as a Cassadine on GH, where his character had the distinction of dying in a freezer alongside his love, Alexandria Quartermaine, during the Ice Princess storyline. His Instagram account, Creative Soul of Acting, posted the following: “We are so sorry to share some very sad news. Andre passed away peacefully today in the hospital, with Ed, his dear partner, right by his side. We know how much Andre cared for each of his students and he truly loved you all. We hope we can all hold on to the many lessons and memories he’s given us. Fly, dear Andre, you are forever in our hearts and your teachings will always have an impact on us as actors and human beings ♥️.”
