I was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. By the age of 15, I had walked onto my first soap opera set, Edge of Night, courtesy of actress Jennifer Taylor, after writing a fan letter and I knew I needed to be a part of this world. I began a career in soap journalism when I was chosen as the soaps producer for the original TV Guide Online, before it even existed. After MCI (boy is that dating myself) pulled out of the joint merger with Rupert Murdoch, I was one of 300 people laid off. I was soon asked to work at Soap Opera Magazine by then editor-in-chief, Garrett Foster, who worked at Guiding Light as the writers’ assistant when I interned there at age 21 (FYI, I also interned at Santa Barbara at age 20 and General Hosptial at 22).
I also worked seasonally as a researcher for Dick Clark productions on the Daytime Emmys for a decade, was an associate producer/researcher on shows like SoapOgraphy for SoapNET, and worked on websites in the fast-paced newsrooms for CBS local stations in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Away from soaps, my hobbies and interests include searching for shells on the beach, dog sitting, and photography.
