Who’s Going
General Hospital
John Oliver (Z): The Emmy-winning star of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO appeared again as the head of the WSB, Z, on Monday, July 6. Oliver hinted at a willingness to pop back into Port Charles in a behind-the-scenes clip posted to the show’s official social media accounts, teasing, “I would love a twin brother and one of us to die, and then that one to come back to life and kill the other one.”
Real-Life Status
Just Married: Rory Gibson (Michael, GH) and his high school sweetheart, Alicia Ruelas, tied the knot this past weekend in Hawaii. Congratulations to the happy couple!
In Memoriam
Randolph Mantooth, best known to soap fans for his Loving and The City run as Clay Alden/Alex Masters, passed away on July 9 at the age of 80 following a long illness. The actor first rose to fame on Emergency! in the 1970s and also notched roles on GH (as Richard Halifax), As the World Turns (as Hal Munson) and One Life to Live (as Kirk Harmon).
Lisa LoCicero (Olivia, GH) worked closely with Mantooth when she played Jocelyn on Loving and The City. On Instagram, she wrote, “I adored this man, his humor, his talent, his ethic ….. his support in my first years on TV meant more than he could ever know, and he changed my life.. ❤️ you Randy.. there’s a new angel keeping us all a bit safer.. I will miss you beyond.”
Mantooth’s Loving leading lady Lisa Peluso (ex-Ava Masters) commented on Rena Sofer‘s (ex-Rocky, Loving) Instagram post about Masters’ passing, “My heart hurts💔. We had such good times and irreplaceable memories together all of us.”
Scott Bryce, a Daytime Emmy-nominated actor whose signature soap role was Craig Montgomery on ATWT, passed away at the age of 68. Bryce had previously shared that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 esphogeal and stomach cancer. He starred on ATWT on and off from 1982 to 2008, and also played Dr. Crosby on OLTL in 2006. Bryce was the son of Ed Bryce, who played Bill Bauer on Guiding Light. “I’ve had a remarkable journey and I’m so blessed,” the actor told Digest in 2016.
Wai Ching Ho, who portrayed Viki’s (Erika Slezak) nanny Kim on OLTL in the 1980s and early 1990s, passed away at the age of 82. She was also known for her work in Marvel’s Daredevil.
