Gibson and Ruelas were high school sweethearts. He recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2021, “I was 16 and she was 15 when we met,” he smiles. “We actually went to different high schools in Bakersfield [California] and when we met, we ended up having a great conversation. I remember thinking, ‘Wow, this girl is really cool.’”
From there, their love story blossomed quickly. “We had only known each other a week when I decided I would ask her to be my girlfriend. I did and she said yes. We’re very similar and we easily melded together.”
After more than a decade together, Gibson popped the question to Ruelas on the beach in Maui, Hawaii at sunset in October 2022. She posted on Instagram at the time, “AHHHH! I’m going to be [the] future Mrs. Rory Gibson I’m in shock!!!”
In 2025, the actor revealed to Digest that he and Ruelas were already eyeing becoming parents. “Me and my fiancée, we’ve been talking about it for years and years, and we’re planning on kind of getting that train moving here pretty soon,” he shared.
In the lead-up to the wedding, Gibson turned to Ryan Paevey, who recently ended his GH run as Cassius Faison and is a silversmith and jewelry maker, to craft his wedding band.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds showed off their new rings in an Instagram Story on Ruelas’ account that confirmed their marriage. “AAHHHH! OFFICIALLY MRS. GIBSON,” Ruelas enthused in the caption, which she punctuated with a wedding ring emoji and a white heart emoji. She set the video to Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).”
Digest sends its warmest congratulations to Gibson and Ruelas and wishes the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness.
