Hope Marries Thomas On Bold and Beautiful And Other Events In Soap History From July 22

In 2008, the second season of General Hospital: Night Shift premiered on SOAPnet. Tristan Rogers (Robert) joined the cast's ranks alongside Jason Thompson (Patrick) and Kimberly McCullough (Robin), and the season dealt with, among other things, Robert's battle with colon cancer. Antonio Sabato, Jr. also appeared on the show's second season as his former GH alter ego, John "Jagger" Cates.

In 2016, General Hospital’s Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) served Julian Jerome (William deVry) with divorce papers. Their marriage had come to a bitter end earlier in the year when Julian held a knife to Alexis's throat. On the day she delivered the papers, Julian was in a hospital bed after Alexis stabbed him, requiring Julian to undergo emergency surgery. He pulled through; their union did not.

In 2017, Judi Evans (pictured with Deidre Hall as Marlena) reprised the role of Days of Our Lives’s Bonnie Lockhart after a 10-year absence. Evans had originally played the role from 2003-07. Bonnie was her second Salem alter ego; she had previously (and subsequently) appeared as Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis. As a guest on Soap Opera Digest's podcast, Dishing with Digest, in 2020, Evans revealed that when the show had originally contacted her about taking on the part of Bonnie, she told her agent that she thought DAYS higher-ups might have been confusing her with Andrea Evans, formerly Tina on One Life to Live.

In 2019, Bold and Beautiful's Hope (Annika Noelle) and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) were pronounced husband and wife in a ceremony conducted by Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). "Do I take Thomas to be my husband? Yes. I do," declared Hope. "I take him, and I take Douglas as my son. And I take them as a family. Until death do us part." "In that case," smiled Carter, "Douglas, the rings, please." Thomas's young son excitedly replied, "Finally! I've been waiting for this part." While the wedding was underway, Flo was having an attack of conscience and thinking about trying to stop it, for she knew that the groom was keeping a major secret from the bride — namely, that the little girl Steffy had adopted and named Phoebe was actually Hope and Liam's biological daughter, Beth, who Hope believed was dead! Fretted Flo, "Thomas is saying vows to Hope that he's gonna love her for the rest of her life when he knows this secret, and he's keeping it from her. Hope deserves to know what kind of man he really is."

In 2020, the popular duo of Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) and Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) tied the knot at the church. Rafe escorted Ciara down the aisle, and during the ceremony, which was officiated by Julie, Ben told his bride, “My story was not supposed to be a love story. By some kind of miracle – you – it is.” Ciara beamed, “I know our life won’t be easy, but I know it’s okay for me to be scared sometimes because I’ll have you by my side.” After a ring exchange, the ceremony came to an end and the newlyweds kissed — but the joyous mood was soon destroyed when a bomb went off!
