General Hospital notches an unprecedented milestone for a scripted television show when its 16,000th episode airs on Monday, July 13. To mark the special occasion, GH stars gathered for an on-set celebration and posed for a new cast photo.

GH’s Milestone 16,000th Episode
GH, which premiered on April 1, 1963, recently eclipsed the record of episodes previously held by Guiding Light. The final episode of the venerable CBS soap, which aired on September 18, 2009, was number 15,762.
The 16,000th episode was filmed on June 1, and a cake-cutting on set brought together cast and crew alike.
In the episode, Steve Burton makes his much-anticipated return as Jason Morgan, who has been off the canvas since March, and Dean Geyer makes his debut as surgeon Dr. Tristan Roberts.
