Industry News

Going for the Gold: Friday, October 17, is the night when the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys will be held in Pasadena, CA, and all the nominees — and everyone else — learn who walks away with a coveted statuette. Fans can watch the live event on watch.theemmys.tv or via The Emmys official app on their smart TV or personal device, and they can  vote for who they think should win in Digest‘s poll.

Settled Business: Arianne Zucker (ex-Nicole, DAYS) has reached a settlement with her sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuit that she brought in 2024 against the soap’s production company, Corday Productions Inc., executive producer Ken Corday, and former executive producer Albert Alarr. No terms have been disclosed in the court papers that were filed on October 9.

Alumni Report

Rebecca Staab (ex-Elizabeth, Port Charles; ex-Jesse, Guiding Light; ex-Cecelia, Loving) revealed that she will be in Hallmark’s The Christmas Baby on December 21. “I LOVED this family of cast, crew, and production!! This story is prime for a sequel!!” she wrote on Instagram…. Anna Maria Horsford (ex-Vivian, B&B) will be playing Momma Scott in the film Unexpected Christmas. “Black Friday will be different this year 🖤 @unexpectedchristmasfilm On November 7, we’re taking over the holiday season with #UnexpectedChristmasFilm!🚨” she shared on Instagram…. Jonathan Bennett (ex-J.R., All My Children) hosts Season 2 of Finding Mr. Christmas starting October 27 on Hallmark.

Real-Life Status

Great Expectations: Jason Canela (ex-Arturo, Y&R) and his fitness trainer wife Jana shared some great news on Instagram. “Twice the love , twice the joy 🤰🏼baby canela arriving April 2026!,” she wrote. In the cute reel, they were outside and pulling signs from behind their backs. Hers said “We’re” while his said “Scared.” She looked at him and shook her head. He gave her a look that was like, “Oh right” and switched the card to the next one that said, “Pregnant again.” The two then kissed and called forward their firstborn, Jovie Rose, who had her own card. They lifted her and brought her closer so the card could be read: “Baby arriving April 2026” as Michael Bublé’s song “Feeling Good” played in the background. Former on-screen love Melissa Ordway (Abby) commented, “CONGRATULATIONS ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Arrest Report: Darius McCrary (ex-Malcolm, Y&R) was reportedly under fugitive arrest on a felony charge and taken into custody by the U.S. Border Patrol, according to TMZ. This happened on Oct. 5 near the Mexico-U.S. border, and the actor was being held without bail in a San Diego jail. A rep for the actor told the website, the arrest was because of a missed court appearance regarding his failure to pay child support. This is his third arrest for the same issue. But TMZ also reported that according to sources close to the actor’s ex-wife Tammy Brawner, this arrest is not connected to their child support agreement.

Seeking Help: After it was reported that Max Ehrich (ex-Fenmore, Y&R) was arrested and was charged with one count of battery on a person 65 years of age or older after an altercation with his mother, Ehrich’s mom took to social media to defend her son, who has since checked into rehab. “The media and the narrative of my son attacking me is completely fabricated,” she wrote on Instagram. “A short video clip of an altercation that is being exaggerated for click bait does not discern the truth of what did and didn’t happen. The only villain in this is the fact that my son was kidnapped and forced to ingest a dangerous substance. My son is my best friend and one of the best people I know. My son lives a clean, healthy and sober lifestyle. All my son has ever wanted was a platform to share love and goodness to the world. These public exaggerations are harmful to my family. Falsely stating such is also defamation. I am pursuing all legal avenues to clear my son’s name and to move beyond this instance where forced substance abuse created these conflicts. In a short amount of time I watched substance abuse take over his entire daily life because he was kidnapped and forced to do drugs with a group of bad characters and I struggled as any mother would with the demand to keep him safe as a grown man and protect him. He now is in rehab and he is getting the treatment he needs. A mother knows who their son is and isn’t. Those who know the real Max Ehrich know him for the kind, respectful, loving and talented young man that I’m proud to say is my incredible inspirational, brilliant, clean living amazing son. Max is devastated and extremely apologetic that the world had to watch him fall from grace. At this time we as a family are asking for our privacy and healing prayers.”
