Young and Restless’s Tamara Braun Teases ‘Mysterious,’ ‘Juicy’ New Character, Sienna

Comments

Daytime veteran Tamara Braun adds another role to her resume when she debuts on Young and Restless in the October 14 episode. With characters like General Hospital’s Carly and Kim, Days of Our Lives’s Ava and Taylor, and All My Children’s Reese under her belt, the actress will now be playing Y&R’s Sienna Bacall. “I got a call from Josh [Griffith, the soap’s executive producer and head writer], and he was just like, ‘Hey, I have this really cool role that I’m really interested in having you play if you’re available,” she told TV Insider of how it all came about.

A New Home

Braun is very excited about playing this new role, a club owner in Los Angeles she described as “a mysterious, strong badass with an insanely cool wardrobe.” Of course, as with all newly introduced soap characters, Sienna will obviously have plenty of secrets and hidden depths, which will be explored over time. “I like that she’s strong, a bit intense, and I feel like there will be so much revealed about her that even I don’t necessarily know lives within her,” the actress teased. “There are hints about who she is and what kind of a life she comes from within the scripts, so my imagination is going incredible places. She’s got a history, and I think it’s juicy.”

Settling in at her new job at Y&R was helped greatly by the host of familiar faces she found there, including behind-the-scenes players like Producer Jill Farren Phelps, who was GH’s executive producer when Braun first joined that soap as Carly back in 2001, and Director Owen Renfroe, who also directed for the ABC soap. There was also her former AMC castmate, Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea; ex-Annie, AMC), as well as Lucas Adams, who previously played her son, Tripp, on DAYS before joining Y&R as the newest Noah Newman. “He’s a lovely actor and an incredible gem of a human being,” Braun declared. “It’s wonderful to get to work with him again in a different capacity.” Her character will also be mixing it up with Claire, played by Hayley Erin, with whom Braun overlapped at GH during Erin’s time there as Kiki.

There are also two other GH alumni heading to Genoa City in the near future — Roger Howarth (ex-Austin, Franco, and Todd) and Matt Cohen (Detective Burrow; ex-Griffin, GH). “It’s super cool to be able to work with people you’ve worked with before,” Braun noted. “I’m looking forward to seeing what comes down the pike.”

Despite missing her first day at work after coming down with Covid the week before, Braun feels like she’s settled in nicely at Y&R. “I’ve been there a month now, and I’m finally starting to feel like I understand the flow at Y&R,” she shared. “When you start a new job, it’s like being brought to a family’s house for the holidays. It’s a family, you’ve experienced that before, but all families are different. If it’s a kind family at the holidays, everyone is lovely and welcoming, but it can take a moment to feel a part of the family and not just a guest. But after a few hours and a few drinks, you’re taking your shoes off, putting your feet up, swapping recipes, and making plans for the next gathering. My shoes are off, and feet are up, and the recipes are being swapped!”
