What Happened to Harmony on Young and Restless

Remember Harmony on Young and Restless? It’s okay if you don’t because she was only on for a couple of years and during one of those she was going by another name! The character first appeared in June 2005 and was played by Chene Lawson until her exit in January 2006. When Harmony returned to Y&R in October 2011, the role was recast with All My Children star Debbi Morgan, who portrayed her until her exit in October 2012. And when the character came back for a visit in May 2023, Lawson was back in Harmony’s shoes. Then, in November 2024, Lawson reprised the role again.

Yolanda Hamilton was a homeless drug addict who had two children, Devon Hamilton and Ana Hamilton. Although Devon had found her living in a park still using drugs, she later insisted she was clean and went to live with Devon and his new family in Genoa City. But there, she abused Neil Winters‘ hospitality by stealing his watch to buy drugs and nearly overdosed. Eventually, Yolanda agreed to go to rehab and even got a job in the Jabot mailroom but blew her opportunity by coming on to Neil, who turned her down. Devon declined his mother’s offer to leave town with her, so she went on her own.

Years later, as the truth that Devon’s father was Tucker McCall was discovered, Yolanda was found working as a waitress in Wisconsin now going by the name Harmony. She tried to explain to Devon why she kept his paternity a secret and when she came face-to-face with Tucker, he didn’t even recognize her. Harmony insisted she’d gotten her life together, and promised to be there for Devon if he needed her.

Harmony returned to Genoa City to interrupt Tucker’s wedding to Ashley Abbott, but Neil stopped her. She also clashed with Jill Abbott and befriended Nikki Newman at an AA meeting. When Katherine Chancellor brought Ana for a visit, Harmony was happy to see her daughter but felt guilty for not giving her and Devon the lives they deserved. As time went on, Harmony and Neil grew closer but agreed a relationship would be problematic. But things got worse when she fell into bed with Tucker! Eventually, Harmony managed to make good with everybody she’d wronged and with Devon’s blessing, began dating Neil officially. However, she ultimately decided to leave town to help Ana with school in New Hampshire.

In May 2023, Harmony returned to Genoa City to surprise her son with a visit. She explained Ana was on tour but she was excited to spend some time with her grandson, Dominic. Devon was proud of his mother for earning her college degree and staying sober. Harmony reconnected with Malcolm during the ceremony dedicating the new CGAC jazz lounge in Neil’s memory and was pleased when Devon announced he was changing his last name to Winters. Later, at Devon’s apartment, Harmony reminisced with her son as she spent time with her grandbaby. Before she left, she urged Devon to consider returning to a career in music, which he still loved.

Harmony once again visited in November 2024 in order to attend Devon’s wedding to Abby Newman, and this time, she brought Ana along for the trip!
