There's a whole lot of water under Jack's romantic bridge, and this week, he manages to get all wet. AS THE WORLD TURNS' Michael Park wades in to dish Jack's leading ladies.
Soap Opera Weekly: What's the best part of this week's scenes, where Carly dumps Jack in the lake?
Michael Park: What I find wonderful is that she calls Jack "G-Man" again. What is incredible about Maura West is it's written a lot more than she says it, and Maura, as an actress — a very smart, diligent, wonderful actress — is not going to whitewash or water down that phrase. So she selects when she's going to use that phrase and when she's not.
Weekly: Obviously, there's always a lot going on with Jack and Carly, but what about Janet? Where does she fit in?
Park: Julie Pinson is playing that character very well. Again, she's a smart actress who is protecting her character. Janet's protecting herself from anything that comes across as weak. They've created a smart character. But they tend to do that whenever they put Jack and Carly with other people. Those characters are very bright, and they have to be —they have to know what's going on going into [the Jack and Carly dynamic]. The fact that they found Julie was a great move on ATWT's part.
Weekly: It's great, because on the one hand, people want Carly and Jack back together, and on the other hand, one has to hope that Janet doesn't get her heart broken.
Park: I really like it when Jack and Carly get to share with the audience what really good friends they are. It's kind of hard not to put in a little bit of Michael in those scenes, where Jack is adoring Carly and he's just being nice and a friend, because that's the way I feel about Maura. She's one of my best friends, and I love to play those scenes in particular, because they are really honest.
Weekly: It's interesting to see them in this place, having this friendship that also includes Janet, where they're not rushing into CarJack Reunion No. 2,104.
Park: You know what? Kudos to (executive producer) Chris Goutman for not forcing that, since the last thing you want is to have it be ripped out from underneath you — because that's the only way you can tell a story between the two of them. Happy equals boring for Jack and Carly.
Weekly: Right. The push-pull, the dance they do — that's what makes them compelling.
Park: When they are working together, they are a freaking great team. If they could somehow work together while throwing barbs at each other and throwing barbs at each other's significant others, that'd be even better!
I think that Carly and Jack needs to get back together, because they are still in love with each other.
I don't like Jack wiht Janet. They do not have that chemistry he and Carly has.I would love to see Jck and Carly back together. I did not get the Jack and Janey pairing from the jump. Please put Jack and Carly back together.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JACK AND CARLY BACK TOGETHER BUT PLEASE IF THEY DO TAKE IT SLOW DONT MAKE THEM GET MARRIED IN TWO WEEK OF BEING TOGETHER- LET THEM DANCE- LET MAURA AND MICHAEL DO THEIR THING
I'm enjoying Jack and Janet very much. Julie and Michael have amazing chemistry with each other.
omg! i luv julie pinson! michael park is soo cute! im a huge jack & janet fan!!! "jacket" 4evrr <33 muah*
I absolutely love Jack & Janet! They're such a great couple.
I love Jack and Janet together because to me they are more realistic as a couple to me and they have talked about what their vows mean and that you have to try and get through the bad and the good and not run away that you have to work on your marriage no matter what either one of them have done.
