O’Brien first appeared as Gwen from June 2020 to October 2023. General Hospital
Lydia Look (Selina Wu): After being warned by Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) that she would be implicated in the bombing of Charlie’s Pub, Selina quickly left town. The actress first appeared in the role in 2015, though the Wu crime family originated in a GH storyline from 1985 and featured Mr. Chaing Wu (Aki Aleong), Anna (Finola Hughes) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough).
Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones): Due to a scheduling conflict, the role of Maxie required temporary recasting, with Nicole Paggi briefly assuming the role.
Young and Restless
Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman Abbott Winters): The actress alerted her fans on Instagram during a question-and-answer session that while she was currently airing in the episodes set in France, she has not been asked back to shoot more since those shows were taped. Presumably, though, it won’t be long before she notches another appearance.
J. Eddie Peck (Cole Howard): With the death of his character, Cole, last week, Peck confirmed that he has wrapped his return to Y&R. Peck shared on Instagram, “Just a quick shout out as Cole takes his last breath on the show today — and with that, this chapter of my journey on The Young and the Restless comes to a close. I want to thank all of you — my fans, friends, and Y&R family — for welcoming me back with such incredible warmth and support. Your messages, posts and enthusiasm made this return deeply meaningful for me. I’ll do a lil follow up with a video later today or this eve. Much love, ❤️ J.Eddie.”

Thanks for looking out, guys.”

In Memoriam
Julian McMahon, who played Ian Rain on Another World, passed away at the age of 56 from cancer. His former AW leading lady, Amy Carlson (ex-Josie) wrote on Instagram, “I am devastated to hear of the loss of Julian McMahon. My heart breaks for Julian’s wife and daughter. He really was larger than life, a true lover of life. I knew Julian in his first US job and my first contract job on the soap opera Another World. As 20- somethings we shared so many laughs and adventures on our escapades through NYC. Later when I moved to LA, he continued to be a welcoming host- graciously allowing me and 10 of my closest friends to invade his house and swim in his pool at a house way up the hills- closest one to Hollywood sign. I asked why he had chosen that house so close to the sign and in typical fashion he replied something to the effect of- go big or go home. That’s how I knew Julian- the life of the party with a huge laugh and eyes that were always crinkled into an impish smile. Later we reconnected on FBI: Most Wanted- and I was amazed at how gracefully he embraced his role as the lead. He was a giant hearted Leo Lion and his light will be so missed by so many. He has left the world with less of his whole-hearted joy- but as he taught me to say in honor of his father. “Cheers, Big Ears” to his life, all who loved him and his family that will undoubtedly mourn his so much. To you old friend – Godspeed.”
James Patrick Stuart (Valentin, GH) also commented on McMahon’s passing. Stuart appeared on McMahon’s series, Nip/Tuck in 2003 as Serge. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “So very shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Julian McMahon. He was a truly wonderful and talented actor, but an even more amazing human being. He deserved far more time than he got. RIP.”
The actor’s big break after leaving daytime was on a show called Profiler, which starred another daytime alum, Ally Walker (ex-Andrea, SB). The actress paid tribute to her former co-star on Instagram, where she wrote, “Julian McMahon, Robert Davi and I did a little show called PROFILER in the 90’s and became fast friends. Jules and I hung out with the creator, Cynthia Saunders in Laguna before shooting and I grew to love him as a little brother. Warm, charming, talented and funny, Jules lit up any room he was in. I am heartbroken to hear of his passing and send my thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP, Jules.🙏🏼😘”
Rebecca Staab (ex-Elizabeth, Port Charles; ex-Jessie, Guiding Light) shared on Instagram, “I was so fortunate to have worked with the stellar Julian McMahon on Nip/Tuck. In between takes, he told me he was flying out immediately afterwards to start on a film. I asked which film. He said, ‘The Fantastic Four.’ Hmmm….. I then asked which character he was playing. He replied, ‘Doctor Doom.’ An ironic smile lit up my face — I whispered, ‘I’m the original Sue Storm.’ He pulled me close and whispered back, ‘I knew there was something special about you.’ Rest in glory, my fellow Fantastic Four icon. 💙4️⃣.”
