In 1988, Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy) and Kimberly Brady Donovan (Patsy Pease) renewed their vows on Days of Our Lives. The pair had originally said, "I do" in 1985. Shane's daughter, Eve, was in attendance, as was the couple's young son, Andrew; they trailed behind Shane and Kim as they walked hand-in-hand together to the altar. Shane told Kim, "When we were first married, I couldn't believe that two people could be closer in spirit or more in love than we were then. But I was wrong. Since we've been together as man and wife, my love for you has simply deepened. It's grown richer, it's grown stronger."

In 1992, General Hospital's Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson) — who, the previous day, had woken up together in Las Vegas and realized that they had drunkenly gotten married the night before — took a chartered plane back to Port Charles and bickered. There was one thing they could agree on, though: that they wanted a divorce as soon as possible! Of course, in true soap fashion, the pair did genuinely fall in love and ultimately renewed their vows.

In 1997, Days of Our Lives's Carrie (Christie Clark) stopped Austin and Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) wedding, armed with the proof that Sami had lied about Will's paternity — he was Lucas's son, not Austin's! In the build to the big day, an amnesia-feigning Sami was overjoyed when Austin popped the question, but Carrie wasn’t ready to concede just yet, and searched for evidence of her sister’s underhandedness. Sami’s twin, Eric, agreed to help. To buy Carrie time, Roman delayed the vows by faking a fainting spell. Meanwhile, Mike helped Carrie get proof that Lucas, not Austin, was young Will’s father. She burst into the church to reveal that Sami had been lying to Austin. The groom took Carrie at her word and called the nups to a halt (“Carrie wouldn’t have stopped the ceremony if she didn’t have a good reason,” he noted). Carrie then proffered Will’s bloodwork, which showed he couldn’t possibly be Austin’s child. Over Sami’s stammering denials, Carrie declared victory and punched her sister in the face!

In 2003, General Hospital’s Emily Bowen-Quartermaine (Natalia Livingston) and Zander Smith (Chad Brannon) wed on what appeared to be breast cancer-stricken Emily's deathbed. Nikolas watched mournfully from outside of her hospital room as they exchanged their vows before Elizabeth, Gia and Lucky.
