General Hospital Comings & Goings: Wil Traval Joins Cast as Jude
General Hospital is adding yet another new player to the Port Charles roster. Australian actor Wil Traval has been cast as Jude, news first reported by Deadline. He will make his GH debut in October.
Who is Wil Traval?
Wil Traval made his television debut in his native Australia in 2003. He is perhaps best known for the Netflix superhero crime drama Jessica Jones, in which he played Will Simpson. The Los Angeles-based actor has appeared on a wide range of primetime series including Red Widow, Arrow, CSI, Dexter, Chicago P.D., Grimm and Once Upon a Time. Traval’s lone soap credit is the recurring role of Caleb Collins on The CW’s Dynasty reboot.
Traval has an extensive list of Australian TV credits, as well, including the roles of Dr. Jack Quade on the medical drama All Saints and Detective Peter Church in the police drama White Collar Blue.
While General Hospital is keeping details about Jude under wraps for now, Traval’s Australian heritage could offer a clue as to how the character will fit into the canvas. If Jude — and not just his portrayer — is an Aussie, he might be connected to the show’s other Aussie newcomer Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) — or Jude might be part of the ongoing mystery surrounding JJE, which is under investigation by the WSB. Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) recently took over as the CEO of JJE, the company founded by her Australian father, Jax (Ingo Rademacher), on orders from the WSB. In her new role, she is working closely with Hudson Parker (Troy Lennon Appel), who has been updating a mysterious someone by phone about the progress he’s been making in Port Charles.
Not only that, but Hudson has an established (if still unexplained) interest in baby Phoebe (Lucia and Luna Creighton), Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) newly adopted daughter. In the fall preview interview they gave teasing what’s ahead this autumn on GH, Head Writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten revealed that “someone comes calling with a claim on Phoebe,” raising the question: might Jude be that someone?
Whoever Jude turns out to be connected to, he is the latest in a growing list of new cast members GH has introduced in the past few months, which includes Dean Geyer, Troy Lennon Appel, Kayden Brenna Tokarski (Scout), Kelly Kruger (Serena), Alimi Ballard (William Baines), Kearran Giovanni (Dr. Nichols) and Blythe Howard, who will make her debut next week as attorney Monet.
