General Hospital’s Rory Gibson Shoots Down Contract Status Rumors
Rory Gibson (Michael Corinthos) remains on contract at General Hospital, the actor confirmed after rumors that he had been moved to recurring status circulated on social media.
Rory Gibson Confirms He’s Still on Contract at GH
“Just got filled in on the twitter news lol,” Gibson wrote in a since-deleted Instagram Story. “Just rumors. Still on contract. Love GH. Be good to each other.”
The speculation about Gibson’s contract status appears to have been sparked by Soap Opera Digest’s inclusion of Gibson and Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford) in the Comings & Goings casting report for the week of November 2.
The “Who’s Coming” section for GH revealed that Gibson and Harper, whose characters have been off-screen for several weeks, would next be seen on the Wednesday, November 4 episode, but did not indicate that either actor had dropped to recurring.
The item about Gibson and Harper read, in full, “We haven’t seen Michael or Jordan since they flew to Germany together on Wednesday, October 14, but both characters will appear again on Wednesday, November 4, when Jordan faces a setback as she undergoes treatment for her scars at the Baden-Baden clinic.”
The other actors listed in the GH “Who’s Coming” section in this particular column are all on recurring status, but based on the casting news for a given week, the section frequently includes new hires — both recurring and contract — as well as contract players who have been absent from the screen for a notable amount of time. Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves), for example, is on contract and was included in last week’s Comings & Goings which covered the week of October 26, because Nina had not been on screen since September 17 but returned to the airwaves on Tuesday, October 27.
Gibson — who had previously portrayed Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless from 2021-23 — has been on contract at GH since he debuted as Michael in May 2025, succeeding Chad Duell, who had portrayed the character since 2010.
In his current storyline, Michael accompanied Jordan to the Baden-Baden clinic in Germany after arranging for her to meet with his surgeon there. Jordan has extensive facial scarring stemming from a near-fatal car crash, and Michael underwent reconstructive surgery at Baden-Baden after he sustained third-degree burns in an explosion. The pair has bonded over the trauma of their respective injuries, and the show may be moving toward a romantic pairing for the duo.
