General Hospital Fall Preview: What’s Ahead for Jason, Sonny, Carly and More
General Hospital is gearing up with a fall season packed with romance, secrets and danger. The show’s co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, broke down what’s ahead for established Port Charles players like Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), as well as new faces and what they called “unexpected arrivals” in a new interview with TV Insider. Here are the major takeaways from the GH fall preview:
Jason and Britt May Be Doomed
And we don’t just mean because of Anna’s vendetta! Korte and Van Etten hinted that the next chapter of Jason and Britt’s love story might be its last, when actions Britt took while being forced to do Cullum’s bidding “come back to haunt her and may prove too difficult for this unlikely couple to survive.”
Carly, Valentin … and Anna
While Carly and Valentin are closer than ever, the lovers are in for a stormy fall, said Van Etten and Korte. First, Valentin suffers a setback when what Korte and Van Etten called “a mysterious person” purchases Wyndemere out from under him. Then, the twosome have to deal with troubles brought on by their kids — specifically, Josslyn’s desire to take down Sonny and Charlotte’s “night swimming adventure,” which sounds like a reference to her discovery of Jack Brennan’s dead body.
But those obstacles may look like small potatoes compared to Valentin’s pull to his ex, with the writers noting, “perhaps the greatest threat to their happiness is the return of the original love of Valentin’s life, Anna Devane.”

Sonny and Drew Go to War
According to the head writers, Sonny is about to find out that making a clean exit from the mob is not in the cards when his enemies “seek to use his past against him.”
While Korte and Van Etten didn’t name Drew as the adversary in question, the brewing conflict between Drew and Sonny is going to heat up as autumn unfolds — “with potentially fatal consequences,” they warned.
Ava will be in the whole mess up to her eyeballs as Drew’s willing accomplice. “Their unholy alliance will have repercussions across the canvas for years to come,” Korte and Van Etten declared.
Brennan’s Death is Bad News for Nina
Speaking of Drew, the writers made it sound like him planting Brennan’s wallet in Nina’s car to get revenge on her is going to pay off — at least at first. Only a handful of people in Port Charles know that Brennan is dead, not merely missing, but the authorities — led by new arrival William Baines of the WSB — will stumble upon “physical evidence … suggesting Nina had something to do with it.”
As a result, Korte and Van Etten hinted, “Nina may face a dark future — but perhaps not as dark a future as those who seek her downfall….” Will Drew end up regretting his frame job?
With his background as a medical doctor and as a former WSB agent, it’s no surprise that Dr. Tristan Rogers is poised to become a player in this storyline. Korte and Van Etten said that Tristan will “prove pivotal to the mystery” of Brennan’s death.

New — and Old — Romances Are on the Horizon
Korte and Van Etten teased that several new and renewed coupllings will be unfolding throughout the fall. Joe and Lucas’s roommate situation “evolves into something warmer” — but it sounds like the outlook for Lucas isn’t all good, as “trauma and heartache begins to take its toll” on the good doctor… For Alexis, they said, a “past romance will rear its head in a surprising way”… Scout and Rocco’s romance is going to continue, with Korte and Van Etten noting that they “are becoming our Romeo and Juliet.”
Will Trina’s Stalker Harm Kai — or Emma?
Korte and Van Etten were coy about the identity of Trina’s stalker, refusing to say whether he or she is someone the audience already knows. But they revealed that in light of the threat the stalker poses, Kai’s relationship with Trina “may prove detrimental to his health.”
And Kai isn’t the only person in Trina’s inner circle who could unwittingly put themselves in the stalker’s line of fire. The writers shared that Emma is going to favor an aggressive approach to figuring out who is stalking Trina, which “may put a target on her own back.”
Brook Lynn and Chase May Lose Phoebe
Autumn is “tumultuous” for Brook Lynn, said Korte and Van Etten, as she faces the consequences for keeping her role in Jordan’s accident a secret, which puts her relationships with her husband, Chase, and son, Gio, on the line. But she has more to fear than just losing her husband and son — she and Chase could both lose Phoebe, the baby girl with the mysterious father whom they adopted. Her months-long cover-up “may leave the family vulnerable when someone comes calling with a claim on Phoebe,” the writers reported. Does this mean fans will finally learn who Phoebe’s real father is?

Josslyn’s New Mission
The writers made it sound like Jossyn’s new WSB assignment — to become the CEO of her father Jax’s company, JJE — is on a collision course with her vendetta against Sonny. Not only will “the results will be bloody” when she makes a move that targets Sonny’s family, but Korte and Van Etten specifically noted that Josslyn is also the target of a mysterious someone. They hinted, “JJE is a big prize, and she isn’t the only one entitled to it.”
Jordan’s History is Explored — and Her Bond with Michael Grows
Jordan has been on the canvas since 2014, but fans still don’t know a ton about her background. That is going to change as “a face from Jordan’s past will complicate her future,” said Korte and Van Etten, who promised that fans will get insight into Jordan’s life prior to joining the DEA, which ultimately led her to Port Charles. Meanwhile, with her husband, Curtis, behind bars, Michael and Jordan “develop a special bond.” But is it one that should keep Curtis up at night?

Drama Follows Curtis and Sidwell to Prison
Just because Curtis and Sidwell are behind bars doesn’t mean they are going to have a safe and secure fall. Korte and Van Etten hinted that what goes down at Pentonville not only changes the dynamics between friends and enemies, but “may also upend a romance or two.”
Portia and Isaiah will also be involved, the writers revealed, thanks to an “outrageous” move by Curtis’s new lawyer.
Dante and Liz Hooking Up Could Bring Out the Old Ric
Being with Elizabeth again has brought out the best in Ric — but his jealousy of her connection to Dante is going to be a factor this fall, and all the progress Ric has made could disappear as a result. Korte and Van Etten didn’t actually say if Liz and Dante are actually going to hook up, but they but teased that if they do cross that line from friends to lovers, “are there any lengths to which a spurned Ric won’t go to keep what’s his?”
