Jason and Carly’s Wedding Began on General Hospital and Other Big Moments from September 16

In 1974, Joe Riley (Lee Patterson) and Victoria Lord (Erika Slezak) tied the knot in a small ceremony on One Life to Live. The ceremony was shot on location at a small Catholic church in New York City. The happy couple had much to celebrate, as they overcame many obstacles, including her father's disapproval and him being presumed dead in a car accident, before saying, "I do." Joe and Viki welcomed a son, Kevin, in 1976, but while Viki was pregnant with their second son, Joey, who was born in 1980, Joe sadly passed away due to a terminal brain tumor.

In 1992, Hillary B. Smith debuted as Nora Hanen (pictured with Robert S. Woods as Bo Buchanan) on One Life To Live. Prior to joining the show, Smith had appeared as Kit McCormick on The Doctors in 1982 and, from 1983-89, she played Margo Hughes on As The World Turns. She recalled of her move to OLTL on Soap Opera Digest's podcast, Dishing With Digest, "I was screen-testing with Bobby Woods [and] I remember [then-Executive Producer] Linda Gottlieb calling me upstairs going, 'You know, we’re really looking for a redhead.' I said, 'Well, a redhead screen-tested. You should hire her.' She said, 'Well, would you be interested in being a redhead?' I was like, 'Sure, I’ll be a redhead, but you’ve got a redhead downstairs and she was great.' So it took about a week but then they called and said I had the part. Two weeks later, I had already dyed my hair red and I was getting ready to go in for my first day of work."

In 2005, Kyle Lowder (pictured with Nadia Bjorlin as Chloe Lane) exited Days of Our Lives as Brady Black. The actor assumed the role of John and Isabella's son in 2000, and after he left, Eric Martsolf was hired to succeed him in 2008. In 2018, Lowder returned to the show in a different role, Rex Brady.

On Bold and Beautiful in 2020, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and John "Finn" Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) shared their first kiss. Their bond — and their attraction — had been deepening since they first met as patient (Steffy) and doctor (Finn). In light of this, Finn went to see Steffy to tell her that he could no longer serve as her physician. Steffy was hurt, until Finn explained that he couldn't stop thinking about her and due to his feelings for her, it would be inappropriate for him to be her doctor. He offered an apology and turned to leave, but Steffy surprised him by stopping him and initiating a passionate kiss! Due to the Covid protocols in place at the time, the actual lip-lock was filmed with a very special Steffy stand-in: Novlan's real-life wife, Kayla Ewell, who had previously appeared on the show as Caitlin Ramirez.

In 2021 on General Hopsital, the wedding of Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) commenced at St. Luke's Church. Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) served as her mother's maid of honor, while Carly's son – and Jason's godson — Michael Corinthos (then-Chad Duell) served as the best man. The pair had gotten engaged in an effort to safeguard the Corinthos organization from challengers from within the Five Families, who were trying to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the presumed death of Carly's husband, Sonny Corinthos. Of course, viewers knew that Sonny was not actually dead — he was amnesiac and living as "Mike" in Nixon Falls. As the wedding got underway, Sonny was about to regain his memory....
