General Hospital’s Laura Wright Reveals How Carly Really Feels About Lover Turned Enemy Drew (EXCL)
Just a few years ago, Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) were a lovey-dovey duo on General Hospital — but now, she can barely stand the sight of her ex, who is poised to marry Carly’s former daughter-in-law, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), after sleeping with her behind the back of Carly’s beloved son, Michael (Rory Gibson). On today’s episode, they had yet another nasty confrontation, as Carly shot down Drew’s plea for her to “reason” with Michael, who won full custody of the two children he shares with Willow, and grant Willow access to Wiley and Amelia.
When The Love Is Gone
While Carly has remained on good terms with several of her exes, most notably her former husband many times over, Sonny (Maurice Benard), it’s unlikely that she and Drew will so much as exchange cordial pleasantries anytime soon. Still, Laura Wright is of the opinion that her character likely hasn’t reflected on just how dramatically her relationship with Drew has devolved in such a relatively short amount of time. Chuckles the GH star, “At this point, the only thing she thinks about him is, ‘You are a horrible human being.’ I don’t think she gives herself that much time to think about Drew because, you know, she’d want to kill him! There is not much that she’s loving about Drew.”
And given the ugly way the Michael/Willow union came to an end, Carly’s scorn also extends to Willow, as well, even though the two women were once thick as thieves. In fact, Carly was originally willing to give Willow the benefit of the doubt, thinking she’d simply been manipulated by Drew. But that ship has sailed. “Carly even came out and said, ‘I thought the whole time it was Drew pulling the strings, but you really are this person. This is all you,’ ” Wright notes. “It is shocking, because she really thought that Willow loved Michael.”
The maneuvers Willow has pulled of late — from trying to rush the custody case to trial even though Michael was still recovering from his injuries abroad (which Carly knows about) and sneaking into the Quartermaine mansion to help herself to Sasha and Michael’s baby girl, Daisy (which Carly doesn’t know about) — have certainly recast how Carly views her grandbabies’ mother. Declares Wright, “It’s her lack of empathy towards Michael that is most shocking to Carly.”
