General Hospital Recap: Drew Testifies, Britt Is Arrested, Jason and Josslyn Team up and More!

Comments

In the December 19 episode of General Hospital, the drama wasn’t only in the courtroom! Justine (Nazneen Contractor) continued building her case against Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) as Drew (Cameron Mathison) threatened to derail Alexis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) defense, Portia (Brook Kerr) spent quality time with Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson), Brad (Parry Shen) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) paid a high price for their fun, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Jason (Steve Burton) joined forces, Nathan (Ryan Paevey) comforted Lulu (Alexa Havins), Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) confessed to Nina (Cynthia Watros), and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) wanted to make sure Carly (Laura Wright) had her eyes wide open. Here’s how it all went down!

Order in the Court

Kristina took the stand in Willow’s trial, and Justine asked her about her and Willow having been members of Dawn of Day. Kristina confirmed it and explained how some women were given training in weapons to protect their leader, Shiloh. Justine then got her to reveal that Willow had been part of that inner circle and received firearm training. Nina scurried out of the room before the cross-examination, where Alexis got Kristina to relate how Michael had asked Willow to speak to her to prevent her from getting further involved with the cult, and that she’d never seen Willow with a weapon.

Justine then questioned Brook Lynn about Edward’s gun and where it was kept. When she asked her to testify to Willow and Drew’s relationship while she was still married, Alexis tried to object, but was overruled. Brook Lynn admitted they were close, but when Justine asked how close, Alexis objected again. Brook Lynn then explained that everyone saw them being intimate when the sex tape was broadcast, but when Justine asked her to speak to Drew’s powerful influence over Willow, Alexis objected once more, and the acting DA wrapped it up. Alexis had no questions, so Brook Lynn stepped down.

Next up was Liz, who told the court how the gun was found in Willow’s room at her home. She then had to explain that she took Willow in after the defendant had dumped Drew at the altar because he’d had an affair with her mother. Justine snarkily noted that was a heck of a motive, then withdrew her statement after Alexis’s objection. The acting DA then questioned Liz about Willow and Drew’s relationship and got her to admit they weren’t on speaking terms at the time of the shooting. Justine proposed that since Willow wasn’t allowed to see her children while she was with Drew, she might have decided to remove that obstacle. Alexis once again objected, and the judge warned Justine to watch it. During the cross, Liz said that she’d never seen Willow act hostile towards Drew and that she was a good nurse and mother. The judge called a recess, and Drew tried to reassure a worried Willow that the jury could see through Turner’s games. He then berated Alexis for blowing it. “You keep this up,” he seethed, “I swear to you, you’ll never see Scout again.”

In the hall, Chase asked what happened to the traffic cam footage, and Dante suspected someone got to it. Chase hoped he wasn’t accusing him, insisting he would never tamper with evidence. Alexis argued to Drew that having the traffic photos deemed inadmissible was a big win, but he declared that when he got on the stand, he was going to testify that he remembered Michael shooting him. Alexis warned that their case wouldn’t survive yet another lie, and when he insisted he was willing to take that risk, the attorney got in his face and blared that she wouldn’t support perjury and refused to risk losing her license again.

When court was called back in session, Drew took the stand, and Justine questioned him about the evening he was shot. He explained that he had a drink, opened the safe, and was shot in the back. She then asked if he knew who shot him, and everyone held their breath before he finally admitted that he didn’t. The prosecution rested, and when Alexis had no questions for Drew, the judge adjourned for the day. As the courtroom cleared out, Alexis told him he made the right call. Drew hissed back, “For your sake, you’d better hope I did. If you don’t turn this around, I swear to you I will follow through on what I said. Just because I didn’t remember Michael shooting me doesn’t mean I won’t.” Alexis frowned, and behind her, Willow looked concerned.

Playing Games

In Isaiah’s cabin, he tried to keep Portia entertained while she relaxed, suggesting they play chess using checkers to replace some missing pieces. He grew emotional as he recalled his father teaching him to play and admitted that learning he might be a dad got him thinking about his own. He promised that if this baby were his, he would be the best father he could be. She knew he would be and promised to get the paternity test as soon as possible. Later, Portia won the game, but their celebration was interrupted by a call from Curtis checking in on her after she’d checked out of the hospital early. When he offered to bring anything she needed to her hotel room, she assured him she had a girlfriend there taking good care of her. She changed the subject to the trial, and he gave her an update, saying he couldn’t wait for this to be over so they could focus on their baby. Portia shot Isaiah a guilty look. After hanging up, she admitted that Curtis not knowing the truth about this situation made it hard to relax, and Isaiah promised everything would work out.

Dine and Dash

Brad and Britt struggled to get together enough money to pay for their expensive lunch, and he suggested they call someone for help, but she said they’d have to figure it out on their own. When the waiter offered to take the check, Britt stalled by ordering more dessert, and once he went back to the kitchen, she rushed out of the restaurant with a stunned Brad quickly following behind. They returned to her room above Bobbie’s and laughed as they both agreed they were thrilled to be reunited. Brad admitted that when he found out she was alive, he begged, borrowed, and stole money to get back to Port Charles. Looking around her room, he wondered how she was paying for it and how she had convinced Carly to let her stay there. Britt admitted “it took a village” and then revealed that while no one in town really liked her, she and Rocco had bonded. Brad was stunned, and Britt complained that Lulu wanted her nowhere near Ben, despite her being an angel compared to the parent of her other kid, Charlotte) — namely the escaped convict Valentin. Unfortunately, their party had a pooper when Chase knocked on her door and arrested them both!

Dream Team

Josslyn assured Jason she trusted him more than Jack, and confirmed that Dalton, Sidwell, and the Five Poppies were all connected to Faison’s final project, but added that Britt isn’t a victim but a willing participant. She admitted she didn’t know what the project was, exactly, but it involved cold fusion. Jason then flashed back to Britt mentioning working on cold fusion on the plane back to Port Charles. Joss explained that Dalton was sending Britt data to analyze, and after the Five Poppies was destroyed, she continued working with him in Port Charles and was likely involved in the professor’s disappearance.

When Jason asked how she was getting evidence on Sidwell, Joss revealed that she had been ordered to use Lucas, who had no idea he was now a WSB asset. Noting Jason’s reaction when she mentioned Spoon Island, she pressed, and he admitted that when Britt first came back, he found her on the docks; she could have been heading there. Josslyn pointed out that all the evidence was staring him in the face, but Jason argued that they could be forcing Britt to do their dirty work in exchange for her Huntington’s meds. Josslyn offered to get more information, but he didn’t want her putting herself at risk. She insisted, and he noted that she was as stubborn as her mom, but begged her to be careful. Joss promised she would and smiled that it was nice working together.

Who Can You Trust?

Lulu and Nathan both blasted Jack for implying the detective was anything like Faison. Jack found Nathan’s memory loss rather convenient, and Nathan countered that he was a police detective sworn to protect and serve, which is very different from what the WSB does. Lulu agreed and lashed out at Jack for constantly trying to manipulate her. She ordered him out of her house, and Jack warned that the longer Valentin is free, the worse it will be for everyone, including Charlotte. As he stormed out of the house, he ran into Nina. Brennan hoped she was there to fulfill her side of their deal. She braced herself and then knocked on the door, surprised to see her brother inside. Lulu assumed she was there to see Charlotte, and Nina said she hoped to take her out to lunch. Charlotte came downstairs and begged her mom to let her get out of the house, and when Lulu balked, Nathan offered to put a guard on them. Lulu reluctantly agreed, and Nina escorted Charlotte out the door. Nathan assured Lulu that Charlotte was well protected, but she worried that her daughter had overheard Jack threatening Valentin. Nathan praised Lulu for the way she stood up to Jack, and she said she didn’t appreciate the way he went after him. She explained she knew what it was like to resume your life after it had moved on without you, and hated that Maxie would soon know the same. Nathan assured her they’d help Maxie together.

At Cafe Cherie, Nina asked Charlotte how she was doing and urged her to be honest. The teen admitted she felt caught between her parents, and Nina assured her that she was Valentin’s whole world, and it must be killing him not to be able to speak with her. Charlotte confided that he actually had been in contact, and Nina quickly told her not to say anything else. “There are very powerful men looking for your father,” she whispered. “On the good and bad side of the law. I love you… so very much, but you can’t trust anyone with this. Not even me.”

A Solemn Vow

Carly refused to believe that Jack was holding on to the incriminating recording of her to use against her in the future, but Valentin reminded her she was closely connected to Sonny and Jason, so she might not even be Brennan’s real target. Carly recalled how Jack helped Jason, Anna, and Lucky, brought Charlotte home, and supported her while Michael was treated for his burns. Valentin wondered if his good deeds outweighed what he’d done to her daughter. Carly didn’t understand why Jack would save Michael only to put Josslyn’s life at risk by recruiting her to the WSB. Valentin recalled how Jack played the role of his friend until he needed a scapegoat. He suspected Jack had genuine feelings for her, but the fact that he had this recording meant their relationship was built on a lie, and she was always an asset to him.

Valentin then declared that their agreement was over because he was seeing doubt and needed to know that she was all-in. “I am just trying to figure out when Jack started to manipulate me,” Carly said bitterly. “And I’m realizing that every good deed he’s done was designed to make me feel safe so he could take advantage of me and my daughter. That makes me hate him even more. So let me be very clear. I have never been more committed to taking Jack Brennan down than I am right now.”
