General Hospital Recap: Anna Questions Nathan, Tracy Gambles With Her Future, and More
The future is uncertain on the September 24 episode of General Hospital, and the past is a little wonky, too! Anna (Finola Hughes) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) were finally able to speak with the man who appeared to be Nathan (Ryan Paevey), back from the dead; Felicia (Kristina Wagner) worried about James (Gary James Fuller); Curtis (Donnell Turner) opened up to Marshall (Robert Gossett) as Portia (Brook Kerr) and Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) decided to keep seeing each other; and Ned (Wally Kurth), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), and Lois (Rena Sofer) found Tracy (Jane Elliot) in Atlantic City — but struggled to convince her to come home. Here’s how it all went down:
Putting the Pieces Together
Nina was stunned when Nathan woke up and tearfully embraced her brother before running to get a doctor. Anna was still skeptical, but Nina insisted this man was Nathan. Isaiah reported that they were treating the patient for a concussion and noted a scar on his chest from a previous injury. Nathan was confused and told Anna that the last thing he remembered was Faison shooting him. Looking at his own chest, he was startled to find that he was healed. Anna confirmed that he had been shot, adding that it had happened seven years ago.

An emotional Nina explained to her brother that he had died and there was a funeral, and Nathan realized that if they were shocked to see him, then Maxie didn’t know he was alive. Anna ran down how they found him in the car crash, and how there was no license or registration, and the car was reported destroyed in Mississippi. “So basically, what you’re telling me is I just appeared out of nowhere and I’m missing seven years of my life,” he remarked, stunned. When Nathan insisted on seeing Maxie, Nina broke the news that she was in a coma in a hospital in Boston. Then he recalled that they had been expecting at the time of his “death,” and Nina told him about his son, James.
A Shocking Secret
A shaken Felicia stopped by the Quartermaine stables to pick up James from his riding lesson to overhear her grandson asking about his mom, and Cody assuring him that Maxie wasn’t gone like his dad and was probably dreaming about him. Felicia joined them and Cody sent James to do a chore. Once alone, Felicia told Cody about the John Doe who looked like Nathan and how James’s father might actually be alive. Naturally, the idea freaked her out, and Cody assured her that the PCPD would figure out who this guy is. Felicia worried that James was going to get hurt, and Cody promised to protect the boy. As Felicia took her grandson home, James turned and told Cody, “Sometimes I really wish you were my dad.”

Breakups and Makeups
After trying to assure Trina that Jordan wasn’t the reason that he and Portia split up, Curtis sat down with Marshall, who wasn’t sure which he was more worried about — Curtis being a suspect in Drew’s shooting or his entire family falling apart. Curtis explained how Drew’s attacks on his family gave him one of the strongest motives for shooting the congressman. He added that he didn’t want for him and Portia to break up now because it would make Portia a prime suspect. Marshall wondered if he was just trying to protect her — or if he thought she might actually be guilty.
Meanwhile, Portia ran into Jordan at the hospital, and snarked at her husband’s ex before informing her that her marriage to Curtis was kaput. Later, Isaiah visited her in her office, and Portia revealed she’d changed her mind about exploring whatever there is between them. Isiah wanted to make sure that she and Curtis were definitely through and needed some time to think about things because he didn’t want to risk losing his job at the hospital. She understood, but felt that their time together was amazing, and she wanted more. Isaiah agreed, but warned that if they continued seeing each other, it had to be kept quiet. He mentioned having gone through something similar in his past, and he didn’t want to get hurt again.

Trina visited Jordan to talk to her about Curtis and Portia breaking up. She related how her father claimed Jordan wasn’t the reason, and Jordan confirmed that neither she nor Curtis had pursued each other. Trina believed her, but noted that her mother didn’t. Trina insisted that her parents can’t split up. “This isn’t me trying to keep my parents together because I need them to be a couple,” she fretted. “I’m trying to keep them out of prison.” Jordan urged Trina not to get involved because she could wind up a suspect herself.
The House Always Wins
As Ned and Brook Lynn flew to Atlantic City to find Tracy, Ned confided to his daughter that he’d had an affair with Monica. She already knew about it, and when Ned tried to explain, she complained she didn’t want to hear the gory details. But Ned shared how he and Monica were able to connect far from the Quartermaine drama, then expressed his desire not to let the family dramas make him lose sight of what’s important, primarily being her dad.
At the casino, Tracy was drowning her sorrows and gambling when Lois sat down at her table and began winning. Tracy got up to leave before declaring that this was her room and private dealer, so Lois should be the one to go. Lois got her a glass of water and tried to get Tracy to open up, fearing she was going to make a terrible mistake by avoiding Monica’s funeral. Ned arrived and tagged in, telling his ex that Brook Lynn was on the boardwalk.

Lois sat down with her daughter, trying to use some cotton candy as an icebreaker. Brook Lynn declined, though she was grateful to her mother for helping find Tracy. Lois was surprised to learn that Tracy had run off to Atlantic City before, but pleased to hear that Brook Lynn and Lulu worked together to figure out where she’d gone. Lois also expressed her sympathies about Maxie and recalled when Ned’s ex-wife, Katherine Bell, was poisoned and the Quartermaines were all accusing each other while also working together to cover it up. That showed her that in their own twisted way, the Qs really do love each other, and Monica was at the heart of the family. Softening, Brook Lynn finally took a piece of cotton candy from her mom.
In the casino, Tracy continued to protest that Monica wouldn’t care if she wasn’t at her funeral because she was dead. “I went to a funeral for my father,” she shouted. “I went to a funeral for my mother. I went to a funeral for my brother. I went to two funerals for Luke, and let’s not forget about Gregory. I am done burying people I love!” Ned announced that if she wanted to mourn by playing blackjack, he’d join her, but warned that if she didn’t go to the funeral, she would regret it. Tracy decided to let the cards decide and told the dealer, “Hit me.”

Will Tracy be persuaded to return to Port Charles and mourn her sister-in-law? Are Lois and Brook Lynn on the road to reconciliation? Can Curtis find a way to protect Portia from herself?
