General Hospital Recap: Cassius Gunned Down as Ethan Drops a Bombshell — and John Oliver Debuts
The must-see action on General Hospital on Thursday, July 2, included multiple shootings and deaths, a shocking confession from Ethan (Nathan Dean), Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) arrest, Anna (Finola Hughes) receiving a surprise visit from beyond the grave and John Oliver making his Port Charles debut. Here’s the rundown on all the action!
Search And Rescue
At Wyndemere, Carly attempted to fight off Agent Harker with a fire poker. Just as Harker was about to shoot her, Cassius stormed into the room and shot the agent dead. “Nathan” gave Carly the code to the captive room door and his pistol so she could rescue Josslyn and Obrecht while he tried to stop Cullum. In exchange, Carly informed “Nathan” that Valentin had gone to the WSB headquarters in Geneva to let them know that Cullum was a double agent.

Down in the captive room, Josslyn kicked the rogue agent out into the hallway. Obrecht deactivated the door with the wires, locking her and Josslyn inside until the agent left. The women decided to head out to stop Cullum, but when Obrecht reconnected the wires and Josslyn opened the door, Carly was standing there!
After Carly explained that “Nathan” had helped her find them, Josslyn grabbed her mom’s pistol and headed to the loading dock to help Cassius. Obrecht locked herself and Carly inside the room so Carly couldn’t follow her daughter. Obrecht revealed Cassius’ identity to Carly and fussed with the wires to unlock the door, stalling to buy Josslyn and Cassius time to stop Cullum.
Sealed With A Kiss
In the storage room at the art gallery, Ethan kept passing out from the blood he’d lost. Trying to keep him awake, Ava encouraged Ethan to keep talking, and the two shared a moment when Ethan joked that she’d softened toward him. Then, before losing consciousness again, Ethan mumbled that Phoebe wasn’t his daughter!

Meanwhile, holding Justine at gunpoint, Sidwell demanded that Sonny secure him a helicopter to flee the country. Sonny insisted on taking Justine’s place, since his people would be more willing to give in to Sidwell’s demands if he were the hostage. When Sidwell refused, not wanting to be around the man who’d killed his son, Sonny revealed that it was Cullum who stabbed Marco.

The confession made Sidwell so angry that he turned his gun on Sonny, allowing Justine to run off and call the police. As the men struggled over the gun, Sonny managed to pin Sidwell to the wall and was about to kill him. Justine talked him out of it just before the PCPD arrived.
As the police arrested Sidwell, Ava informed Sonny that she was going to the hospital with Ethan, who had saved her life. “That’s the kind of guy he is,” Sonny praised. Next, Justine jokingly thanked Sonny for not making her prosecute him for murder — then pushed him up against the wall and publicly kissed him.
Bullet Points
Out on the loading dock, a WSB agent updated Cullum that the cargo ship was docked and ready to transport the device, but they still didn’t know who’d set off the firecrackers. Cassius arrived and attempted to shoot Cullum but missed — setting off a shootout with the WSB agents.
Josslyn joined Cassius in the shootout. Cullum drove away with the device and Joss chased after the van but was shot in the stomach by one of Cullum’s loyal agents.
Cullum returned and cornered Cassius. He revealed that Britt’s Huntington’s diagnosis and experimental treatment had been faked to ensure she complied with completing her father’s final project. What’s more, Cassius had essentially killed his sister because the vials of “medicine” he’d sent her had been full of poison.

Cullum also told Cassius that he’d turned around because he got word that a WSB helicopter was approaching Spoon Island, so he planned to make Cassius take the fall for the project and take credit for having stopped him. Next, Cullum shot Cassius, who collapsed to the ground. Josslyn, who’d heard his full confession, managed to crawl her way to a gun, which she used to kill Cullum!
As Josslyn clung to life, a helicopter landed on Spoon Island, and a man stepped off, flanked by two armed guards. Taking stock of the bodies on the ground, the man checked Cassius for a pulse but walked right past Cullum. Noticing that Josslyn was still breathing, the man approached her, but she panicked, unsure who he was. “Everything’s gonna be okay,” the man assured her. “I’m here to help.”

About a Boy
At the stables, Cody updated Tracy about Nathan being an impostor and worried about how Cassius’ betrayal would affect James. Meanwhile, Molly helped James make sense of his confusing final encounter with “Nathan.”

Wellness Check
At the clinic in France, Felicia told Anna that she’d been right about Nathan not being Nathan, and Cody had thankfully stopped the man from fleeing with James. Relieved that James was safe, Anna had her friend relay the story to Dr. Laurent so the therapist could confirm for Anna that she hadn’t conjured it up. Encouraged by Anna’s progress, Dr. Laurent decided that the patient was ready to return home.
Later, Felicia wondered if Maxie hadn’t wanted to reunite with Nathan because she’d suspected he was an impostor. Marveling how Anna had uncovered the truth in the midst of a mental health crisis, Felicia apologized for doubting her, but Anna was grateful that Felicia ultimately believed her. After making plans to fly home together the next day, Felicia left Anna. But the moment Anna was alone, she had a “visit” from Peter! “Nicely done,” he cheered. “Do you think she bought it?”
