On The Road Again
Once Cody’s phone dried out and powered up, he finally received Felicia’s message about “Nathan” possibly being an impostor. Cody managed to stop James from leaving with “Nathan” without letting the little boy know what was really going on. Cassius, however, realized that Cody had uncovered the truth and said an emotional goodbye to James. The little boy was confused why his father was suddenly leaving town, but “Nathan” assured James that he loved him more than he’d ever thought he could.

Cody comforted an upset James after “Nathan” left; then they got in touch with Felicia, who was still in France. Cody promised her he would keep a close eye on James, and he and Felicia agreed that “Nathan’s” odd behavior seemed to confirm Anna’s allegation.
In an empty parking lot, Cassius uncovered a vehicle he’d had stashed away with Ontario license plates and pulled a go-bag out of the trunk; inside was a fake Canadian passport and a bundle of cash. After taking his American money and a photo of himself and James from his wallet, Cassius tossed the billfold out of the car window and drove away.

History Lesson
Because of the threat Sidwell posed, Sonny asked his grandson to move out for his own protection, but Gio insisted he could handle himself. When Sonny explained that Morgan had been the same age as Gio when he was killed and that his son’s death still haunts him, Gio begrudgingly agreed to leave temporarily.

Hostage Crisis
At the Jerome Gallery, Sidwell held Justine, Ava, and Ethan at gunpoint and threatened to abduct Ava. Despite having a gun pointed at her, Ava unleashed on Jenz, shouting that Marco would be so disappointed to know that his father had tried to kill Lucas. Furious, Jenz attempted to shoot Ava and take Justine hostage instead, figuring Sonny would be more interested in negotiating for her life. At the last second, Ethan jumped in front of Ava while Justine lunged at Sidwell.
Darting away, Ava and Ethan barricaded themselves in the storeroom, where he revealed he’d been shot in the butt. Since neither of them had a phone to call for help, Ava used drop cloths to bandage him and attempted to stop the bleeding. With emotions high, the two continued sparring, and Ava asked why Ethan jumped in to save her life. “It was just instinct,” Ethan replied between gasps as he bled out.

Out in the showroom, Jenz made Justine call Sonny on speakerphone and instructed him to come to the gallery alone. Sonny arrived to find Sidwell pointing his gun at Justine. Jenz advised Sonny to consider his next move carefully.

Secret Agent Man
At Turning Woods, Nina gave CPR to a seemingly lifeless Jack. Once he began breathing again, he yelled at her to shut off the tank of carbon monoxide, then explained that Cullum had tried to murder him. Nina figured that Cullum would assume he’d been successful, so to keep Jack safe, she decided to bribe the staff to have him moved to a different room under an assumed name.

Stay Salty
While being examined by Lucas at G.H., Joe insisted that he needed to call in an APB to the station. Lucas reluctantly brought a concussed Joe to the hub, where Nurse Amy called the PCPD. Taking the phone, Joe told dispatch that Det. Nathan West was working with Jenz Sidwell. Carly, who was at the hospital to see Lucas, overheard the conversation and took off without speaking to her brother.
Lucas brought Joe back to the exam room to finish treating him, where Joe revealed that “Nathan” was actually Cassius Faison. Joe lamented that he felt stupid for confiding in “Nathan” that the syringe he’d found in Britt’s room only contained saline residue when Cassius was probably working against the PCPD in the search for his sister. Alarmed by Joe’s statement, Lucas thought there must be a mistake because Britt wouldn’t have been injecting herself with saline.

Baby, You’re A Firework
Carly arrived at Wyndemere to rescue Josslyn and noticed a van at the loading dock. Once inside the house, Carly hid when Cullum and Agent Harker approached. She overheard them discussing their plan to eliminate Josslyn and Obrecht so that no witnesses would be left behind once the prototype was transported to the testing site.
When she reemerged, Carly was confronted by Cullum and Harker, who’d suspected there was an intruder. Believing she had the upper hand, Carly relayed that Valentin had gone to Geneva to tell WSB headquarters everything, but Cullum chuckled that the agency wouldn’t believe Valentin. Then, Harker received word that there was gunfire at the loading dock, and Cullum instructed the other agent to kill Carly before leaving to investigate.

The “gunfire” turned out to be Danny and Charlotte, who were lighting off fireworks (taken from the Quartermaine stash for the Fourth of July) at the loading dock as a distraction to help Carly search the tunnels for Josslyn. Although the teens managed to run off, Cullum ordered agents to go after whoever had lit the fireworks. Next, he instructed another agent to quickly load the device into the truck because they needed to leave immediately.

Down in the captive room, Obrecht and Josslyn managed to trip a wire and unlock the door. But when they opened the door, an agent was waiting for them on the other side. Meanwhile, Carly begged Harker to let go so she could save her daughter. While the agent turned his back to take off his suit jacket and get his weapon, Carly grabbed a fire poker from the mantel and swung at him!
