The Young and The Restless: How Patty Williams Killed Colleen Carlton

Comments

Colleen Carlton (Tammin Sursok) died on The Young and the Restless as a direct result of Patty Williams’s (Stacy Haiduk) actions. And Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will never forgive Patty for taking her daughter away from her.

Patty Takes Colleen Hostage

The daughter of Traci and Brad Carlton (Don Diamont), Colleen found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time in September 2009. Caught in the middle of the Newman/Abbott feud, Colleen wanted some time away, so Billy Abbott (then-Billy Miller) gave her the keys to his family’s cabin.

But upon arriving at the cabin, Colleen found it already occupied by Patty Williams, who had been tied up and left there by Jeffrey (Ted Shackelford) and Gloria (Judith Chapman) Bardwell. Colleen began freeing the prisoner, and by the time she realized who it was, it was too late. Patty tied Colleen’s hands behind her back and pulled a gun, taking her hostage.

Colleen managed to place a secret phone call to J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill), who later heard the voicemail she left. He was horrified as he listened to his ex plead with Patty not to hurt her. He teamed up with Patty’s brother, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), and her ex, Jack (Peter Bergman) Abbott, to rescue Colleen and they took off for the cabin.

But the women were already gone. Patty led her captive deep into the woods, and Colleen cleverly tore off pieces of her scarf to drop as they walked, leaving a trail for a potential rescuer. Patty stumbled upon a camp, Camp Cheveyo. There, Patty tied Colleen to a tree, but she was soon bitten by a spider and became seriously ill.

Colleen freed herself and assured Patty that she knew the area, having been a counselor at the camp, and would go get help.

Colleen’s Tragic End

While paddling a canoe across the lake to get help, tragedy struck. Colleen capsized and hit her head on the boat, knocking herself unconscious. She sank into the water, and Colleen hallucinated visions of friends and family visiting her. As she died, she was visited by her late father, Brad.

Following Colleen’s trail, Jack arrived at the lake and pulled her from the water. As he tried to revive his niece, Patty caught them and brandished her gun. Jack begged her to let him get Colleen to a hospital.

Victor Newman suddenly appeared at the camp, and Patty declined his offer to help by shooting him in the chest before taking off. Paul found his sister at the Abbott cabin and persuaded her to turn herself in as Colleen and Victor were rushed to the hospital.

Tests showed that Colleen was brain-dead, but Traci refused to give up on her daughter and begged her to come back to them. Eventually, a heartbroken Traci came to realize Colleen was gone and agreed to turn off her life support system.

When Victor needed a heart transplant and Colleen’s was a perfect match, Traci struggled with the idea, but ultimately agreed to the donation to save Victor’s life.
