General Hospital Recap: Ava Drugs Jack as Valentin Reassures Carly About Anna

Comments

On General Hospital on Friday, August 28, a dangerous plan was set in motion as Drew (Cameron Mathison) asked Ava (Maura West) to drug Jack (Chris McKenna) — but he was waylaid by Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny (Maurice Benard). Meanwhile,  Jordan (Tanisha Harper) made a confession to Anna (Finola Hughes), Curtis (Donnell Turner) met his new cellmate at Pentonville, Serena (Kelly Kruger) made a pitch to Michael (Rory Gibson), and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) played on Chase’s (Josh Swickard) sympathy. Keep on reading for the full story!

A Hard Pill to Swallow

At the Metro Court Gardens, Martin produced a thumb drive containing a computer virus that promised to “cause chaos” and asked why Drew needed it. Drew explained that Jack Brennan had evidence that he embezzled money from the McConkey Esplanade project to fund his Congressional campaign. Once he neutralized Brennan, Drew could focus on taking down Sonny, whom he blamed as the common denominator among everyone who’d given him trouble.

Up at the pool, Nina questioned Ava about her involvement with Drew after seeing them together days earlier. Ava shared the difficulties she’d been having with Sonny lately regarding Avery, and that she and Drew were joining forces against their common enemy. Nina warned her friend that aligning with Drew would backfire.

Ava then met up with Drew, who filled her in on his plan to use the thumb drive to disrupt the hotel security system through Carly’s office computer. Then, while Ava had Jack occupied, he could search Brennan’s room undetected and steal the evidence that the WSB chief had against him.

To buy himself extra time, Drew handed over a sleeping pill for Ava to slip into Jack’s drink. Balking at the idea of drugging a WSB agent, Ava accused Drew of trying to set her up and said she was having second thoughts about their alliance after Nina warned her that he was trouble.

Pointing out that Sonny had a powerful ally in Laura, Drew managed to convince Ava that they were each other’s best option to take him down. Reluctantly, Ava took the pill, intending to use it only if she absolutely had to.

Better Together

In Carly’s office at the hotel, Jack told her and Valentin that he wasn’t sure what his WSB superiors were after by assigning Josslyn to take over as CEO of Jasper Jacks Enterprises and instructed them not to interfere in any way. The three had a showdown over Carly’s relationship with Valentin, and before he left, Jack dropped the parting shot that she’d always be runner-up to Valentin’s obsession with Anna.

Once they were alone, Carly assured Valentin that she understood his connection to Anna because she had a similar relationship with Jason. Valentin swore that whatever he felt for Anna took nothing away from how he felt for her. The couple agreed to trust each other and move forward.

Drug Runner

On her way to meet Brennan for drinks, Ava recalled Sonny’s cruel words about her being a cancer who should be cut out of Avery’s life and decided to crush up the sleeping pill. She sat down with Brennan, and while he was distracted by a phone call, Ava slipped the sleeping pill into his drink.

V is for Vendetta

Back at the Metro Court restaurant, Anna checked in with Jordan to see how she was doing since Curtis went to prison. Anna wondered why Curtis didn’t take the plea deal, and Jordan confided that she felt Curtis was so desperate to blame Isaiah for the accident so he didn’t blame her, and said she regretted not convincing him to drop his vendetta.

Over at another table, Sonny told Laura he had gone legit. Spotting Drew across the room, Sonny theorized that the other man was going to make sure he didn’t get his piers back in the auction of Sidwell’s assets, and would probably use his and Laura’s grandson, Rocco, to take him down.

Laura wanted Sonny to keep the peace with Drew while she was away visiting Kevin and Ace. Laura and Sonny then cornered Drew as he was leaving the restaurant to head to Carly’s office. As the men glared at one another, Laura declared that it was time for him and Sonny to end the hostility between them.

 Cell Shock

Before being moved into the general population at Pentonville, Curtis received advice from Warden Alvarez on how to navigate his time in prison so he could be paroled in two years. Considering Curtis’s past career in law enforcement and the DEA, other prisoners might goad him into fights or even try to kill him, so the warden decided to place him in a more secure wing with another high-profile prisoner.

Later, Curtis was transferred to his new housing block and met his cellmate. “You?” he said in disbelief to the unseen other inmate.

Hire Power

At the pool, Serena pitched Michael her idea to reset Deception with the launch of a sustainable, clean beauty care line. Although impressed with the concept, Michael was hesitant to make such a risky gamble with the company. When Serena called him out for being a stick-in-the-mud, Michael accepted her playful challenge to loosen up and took off his shirt.

Just then, an annoyed Nina approached the pair and accused Michael of cavorting with yet another hooker. But rather than being offended, Serena cheerfully complimented Nina on the excellent articles in Crimson on female empowerment and introduced herself as Lucy Coe and Scott Baldwin’s daughter, the VP of Product Development at Deception.

Sarcastically wishing Serena good luck in a position she wasn’t qualified for, Nina stomped away. Serena humorously asked Michael what he thought of the job title she’d made up on the spot, and he suggested she start as creative director first. Serena agreed to the position and the two shook hands as Michael officially welcomed her aboard.

Sob Story

At the boathouse, Chase (wearing only swim trunks) ran into a frustrated Willow, who’d had a bad few days. Chase invited her to confide in him, and Willow spun a tale of woe that the allegations about her hadn’t stopped despite her acquittal, and Michael was still being difficult.

When Chase asked if Michael had forced her to move back to the property, Willow sighed that Michael usually got what he wanted. She knew being there was best for the kids, but it reminded her of all the things she wished she could take back. Chase told Willow to remember all the horrible things she’d survived, and how far she’d come. As the two stepped closer together, Willow thanked Chase for always knowing what to say to make her feel better.
