General Hospital Recap: A Body is Found in the Pool as Carly and Valentin Search For Dirt on Drew
The Monday, August 31, episode of General Hospital culminated in a gruesome discovery! Ava (Maura West) drugged Jack (Chris McKenna) at Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) behest, Carly (Laura Wright) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) found some useful information, Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) tried to make peace with Drew, Curtis (Donnell Turner) learned that Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is his cellmate, Chase (Josh Swickard) turned to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) for advice about Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) found a body floating in the pool, and more! Here’s everything that happened.
Nap Time
At the Metro Court Gardens, Ava slipped the sleeping pill Drew had given her into Jack’s drink while the WSB chief was on the phone. But when Jack came back and said he had to go, Ava offered him insight on Nina’s history and twisted relationship with Willow to get him to finish his drink. Feeling overheated, Jack headed back to his room, and a panicked Ava texted Drew to alert him. But Jack only made it as far as the elevator before feeling woozy.
Across the room, a concerned Dante met with Britt to talk about Rocco. Explaining that his son has been distant and withdrawn lately, Dante asked if there was anything Rocco had confided in her that he should be worried about. Britt reassured him that Rocco was likely struggling with the aftermath of Cullum’s death, and pulling away from his parents was normal teenage behavior. Dante was appreciative, and Britt said that she appreciated that he’d reached out to her, of all people, for help.
Open Fire
Laura and Sonny cornered Drew at the Metro Court restaurant as he was on his way to Carly’s office to disarm her computer. Laura announced that she was leaving town soon and wanted the men to call a ceasefire while she was gone, starting with Drew bowing out from the auction of Pier 55 so Sonny could reclaim the property. Calling Sonny a criminal, Drew snarled that everything he did was legitimate, then laughed sardonically when Sonny declared that he was also a legit businessman.
While Sonny was willing to call a truce, Drew refused to back down and vowed he’d destroy Sonny. After Drew left, Sonny promised Laura that he would not let Drew deter him from being a legitimate businessman — especially since neither one of them wanted the feud to bleed over to the next generation and harm Rocco, Danny, and Scout.
Seek and Destroy
Carly and Valentin’s steamy makeout session in her office was interrupted when she received a call from the front desk that a package had arrived for Drew. Carly was convinced that Drew was plotting against Michael, Sonny, or Jason, so under the guise of delivering the package, the couple used her master key to snoop around Drew’s new office at Aurora.
Meanwhile, Danny and Charlotte also wanted to snoop through Drew’s office, hoping to find something incriminating they could use to force Drew to let Danny see Scout. Danny swiped a master key from the housekeeping staff, but before they could enter the office, the teens heard Carly and Valentin approach and hid.
Inside Drew’s office, Valentin found an envelope hidden in the cabinet that outlined Drew’s business plan for reentering the corporate world. He and Carly decided to take the file and use it to take Drew down.
Crime & Punishment
In his new housing unit at Pentonville, Curtis discovered that Sidwell was his cellmate. Sidwell warned Curtis that whatever plans Sonny’s associates had for Sidwell placed Curtis in the crossfire — and as a former police officer, whatever retaliation the other inmates had planned for Curtis put Sidwell in danger as well.
Too Close For Comfort
A shirtless Chase jumped back from Willow after a close physical moment as he comforted her at the boathouse. When she apologized for leaning on him too much, Chase replied that Brook Lynn and Phoebe meant everything to him, but he could still be there for Willow as a friend, especially considering their history.
After Willow and Chase left the boathouse, Rocco and Scout emerged from behind the bushes, where they’d overheard the entire conversation. A shocked Scout wondered if Willow had been in love with Chase the whole time she’d been married to Drew, but Rocco didn’t think they should jump to that conclusion. Scout was grateful that Rocco got her to calm down and see the overheard conversation from a different perspective.
Later, Chase met up with Dante at the Gardens and opened up about his predicament with Willow, whom he thought was still in love with him. Dante advised his friend to be there for Willow if she was in serious danger, but not to get involved in Willow’s messy issues with Michael.
Meanwhile, cousins Britt and Willow ran into each other at the bar in the main restaurant and bonded over stiff drinks and the good men they’ve loved and lost (Patrick for Britt, Chase for Willow). When Willow sighed that she’d blown her happy ending, Britt smiled that she’d found love again, so Willow might, too.
Dead on Arrival
After successfully getting into Carly’s empty office and knocking the hotel’s security system offline with the computer virus, Drew searched Jack’s room. When Drew didn’t answer her message, Ava rushed up to Jack’s room to warn her cohort that they needed to leave before Jack came back.
With their plans to search Drew’s office thwarted, Charlotte and Danny went up to the dark pool, which was closed for the season. She suggested they take one last swim, so that “borrowing” Chase’s truck wasn’t for nothing. But when Charlotte swam into the deep end, she was horrified to find a body floating in the water!
