General Hospital Recap: Sonny and Ric Make Their Move Against Josslyn, Willow Faces Investigation

Comments

Battle lines were drawn on General Hospital on Thursday, October 15! Joe (Jonathan Bennett) and Lulu (Alexa Havins) compared notes about Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) as WSB Chief Baines (Alimi Ballard) decided to dig into the congresswoman’s possible involvement in Jack’s (Chris McKenna) disappearance, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Ric (Rick Hearst) targeted Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) in their quest to stop Josslyn (Eden McCoy), and Monet (Blythe Howard) revealed her strategy to get Curtis (Donnell Turner) out of prison. Keep on reading for the rundown.

Connect the Dots

In the Quartermaine kitchen nook, Lulu tried to get Willow to drop the libel lawsuit. Willow agreed — on the condition that Lulu printed a full retraction. Lulu refused and Lulu warned that a trial would lead to a lot of questions about Jack and Drew. Willow snarled that the article had ruined her reputation and threatened to do the same to Lulu.

Joe entered the kitchen to speak with Willow, who snarkily asked if the PCPD was finally going to do something to help her with her mother’s arrest. Instead, Joe questioned Willow about Jack Brennan’s disappearance. A haughty Willow denied everything in the article to Joe and blamed Lulu for the PCPD pursuing her, then stormed out.

Later, Lulu insisted to Joe that Sidwell had been lucid when they spoke, and she had the recording to back up her story. As they compared notes about Jack and Drew’s strokes, Joe decided to take a more thorough look at Brennan’s movements before he disappeared.

Public Policy

Monet visited Curtis at G.H. to discuss her strategy for his appeal. Before she filed, she wanted him to give an interview about how he heroically saved Jenz Sidwell’s life during the assault at Pentonville, arguing that the better he looked in the court of public opinion, the more pressure there would be on a judge to rule in line with that favorable sentiment.

Monet wanted to offer Aurora the exclusive, but since Jordan and Michael were both in Germany, Curtis suggested she speak with Drew instead. He warned her to be on guard because the former congressman often screwed people over.

Willow entered and reported to Curtis that the governor wasn’t taking her calls, so it was unlikely Curtis would be transferred to Spring Ridge. Monet snarked that the Governor was probably dodging Willow after The Invader article, and said she and Curtis couldn’t risk associating with Willow any longer. After Willow left, Monet had a brainstorm that Curtis returning to Pentonville could work in their favor by allowing them to play up the hero-in-danger angle.

A Closer Look

At the WSB Field Office, Chief Baines reprimanded Josslyn for going after Sonny through JJE, defying his direct order not to. Josslyn defended herself, reminding Baines that he’d also ordered her to put her efforts into running JJE, That’s what the piers purchase was about, she claimed. Baines wasn’t thrilled with Joss’ justification, but let it go with a warning there would be consequences if she didn’t drop her cover with JJE the moment she was ordered to.

Baines then brought up the allegations in The Invader article related to Brennan’s disappearance. When Josslyn asked if the WSB had a paralytic drug, Baines cryptically replied that the bureau would be releasing a statement denying the drug’s existence and declared that they needed to further look into Congresswoman Tait’s involvement.

Plan B

As Sonny and Ric discussed their next move to get the piers back, Sonny made it clear that he didn’t want to destroy Josslyn personally in the process. Deciding to go after JJE by putting the screws to Hudson instead, Sonny ordered Ric to get dirt on Josslyn’s right-hand man that they could use to pressure him into walking away from the company.

All Systems Go

Hudson ran into Chase at Volonino’s and was sympathetic about the breakup of Chase’s marriage and the messy situation with Phoebe’s custody. Chase regretted that he and Brook Lynn wouldn’t be able to give their daughter the family life they’d envisioned, and Hudson commented that life could be surprising; you never knew what was coming until it happened.

Mac arrived and Chase introduced them. Mac urged Chase to sign up for the next detective exam, but Chase felt that he needed to focus on his family right now. Mac offered his support whenever Chase was ready.

Ric sauntered in and informed Hudson that his gym membership had been revoked by Sonny. While the men bickered, Josslyn arrived to meet Hudson and told Ric that he and Sonny had to accept the fact that they’d lost the piers to JJE.

Having overheard the altercation, Mac approached Josslyn and shared advice from his own personal experience in trying to take down Sonny. Joss declared that she wasn’t going to back down, but Mac warned her that chasing after Sonny wasn’t worth sacrificing her relationships.

While Hudson was in the shower, Ric broke into his locker and slipped a listening device into his briefcase. Then, Ric listened in with an earbud as Chase and Hudson discussed the latter’s dislike of him. Ric reported back to Sonny that their plan was in motion.
