The Young and the Restless Comings & Goings: Two Legacy Characters Return
Johnny Abbott and Katie Abbott are returning to The Young and the Restless for Billy (Jason Thompson) and Sally’s (Courtney Hope) wedding. After being off the canvas for nearly a year, Paxton Mishkind and Sienna Mercuri are reprising their roles as Billy’s son and daughter, appearing in the episodes scheduled to air on Friday, October 16, and Monday, October 19.
Johnny and Katie Abbott Return to Y&R
“Ready for the big wedding on @youngandrestlesscbs, Friday 10/16 and Monday 10/19!” Mishkind enthused on Instagram, sharing some photos of himself in costume for the Great Gatsby-themed nuptials.
Johnny is the biological son of Billy and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), though he was adopted and raised by Victoria (Amelia Heinle) following his birth in 2012. Previously played by twins Holden and Ryan Hare, Johnny was recast with Mishkind in September 2022.
Katie was born to Victoria and Billy in 2014. As an infant, she was played by twins Reese and Kennedy Staib, with Mercuri taking over the role in 2016.
The last time that Johnny and Katie were seen on screen was in the December 24, 2025, episode of Y&R, where they celebrated Christmas with Billy, Sally, and Victoria. The kids were a topic of conversation in the February 18 and 19 episodes in 2026 when Billy blasted Victoria for sending Johnny and Katie back to boarding school. Victoria had wanted to shield her children from the fallout from the Newman family battling to regain control of their company from Billy and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), who had swooped in and stolen it.
With that conflict now in the past, Johnny and Katie come home to Genoa City for a visit to join in the celebration of their father’s marriage to Sally — and given that Jason Thompson told TV Guide that Billy and Sally welcome their baby “very, very quickly after saying ‘I do,’” maybe they’ll even get to meet their new half sibling!
