General Hospital: How Drew and Willow’s Dysfunctional Marriage Finally Ended

Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) finally ended their dysfunctional marriage on the July 28 episode of General Hospital with a divorce deal brokered through threats, leverage, and the promise that both of them could still lose everything if they don’t walk away.

Here’s how it all went down.

Drew Wants Payback

“Hi, honey,” Drew taunted, his voice dripping with venom. “I’m home.” He was still soaking wet from Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) earlier murder attempt when she pushed his wheelchair into the lake. The drug that Willow had been using to keep her husband in a locked-in state had also worn off enough that Drew was able to move and speak.

Willow feared that he’d done something to her mother, but Drew promised he hadn’t, because he wanted to see his “loving wife” first. As she tried to explain, he quickly shushed her. “I have listened to you for so long, and all I could do was just sit there and blink like a desperate idiot,” he spat. “Now it’s my turn. Go ahead, blink all you want… while you still can.”

Drew angrily informed Willow he wasn’t interested in any explanations for her litany of crimes against him. He admitted he could almost understand her snapping and shooting him, but after he helped the jury find her innocent of attempted murder, she still drugged him to become a prisoner in his own body.

Willow was relieved when Drew assured her that as much as he had been dreaming of killing her, he wasn’t going to. “But you’re gonna wish I did,” he quickly added. He gleefully threatened to tell her kids, Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sienna Goerisch), what a psychopath she is and taunted that Michael (Rory Gibson) would get full custody of the children once she was in prison for life.

Jack to the Rescue

As the confrontation was about to become physical, Nina burst in with Jack (Chris McKenna), who was brandishing a gun. Willow ran to her mother’s arms, and Nina ordered Jack to shoot Drew. But Jack revealed that he didn’t need to drug or shoot the guy because he had evidence that Drew had misappropriated federal funds designated for the McConkey Esplanade to fund his congressional campaign.

That was already a federal crime, but Jack also added that he had proof that Drew had blackmailed the receptionist at the burn clinic in Germany to prevent Willow from speaking with Michael about their children. In addition, the WSB director claimed to have evidence that Drew bribed the judge in Willow’s custody case who later turned up dead.

Drew growled to go ahead and turn him in, angrily threatening to take them all down with him. He gloated that he’d only get a few years for his white collar crimes while Willow would go down for life after what she’d done to him. But Jack reminded Drew that his crimes held a minimum sentence of 20 years each.

Willow warned Drew that if he went to prison for decades, he would lose Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) forever, and Nina gloated that Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Michael would have a field day watching him go down.

Arguing that Scout could keep her father and Wiley and Amelia could keep their mother if they both agreed to just walk away, Willow insisted that all Drew had to do was agree to a divorce. Drew was skeptical it would be that simple. Nina added another stipulation that he couldn’t run for Congress to take his seat back from Willow, and Jack reminded him that he could release this evidence at any time.

Willow Removes Her Wedding Rings

Willow, however, was ready to put the marriage behind her. Before leaving, she removed her wedding rings and gleefully dropped them on the floor, officially ending one of Port Charles’ most toxic relationships.

But Drew got the final word. Alone in the darkened room, he snarled, “Enjoy it while it lasts, you treacherous bitch,” making it clear that the divorce agreement may not be enough to end their war.
