General Hospital Comings & Goings: Wes Ramsey Wraps Return as Peter August

Comments

Wes Ramsey’s return to General Hospital as Peter August — or rather, the vision of Peter that has been haunting Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) for months — came to an end in the Wednesday, September 9 episode.

Peter’s Reign of Terror Ends — Again

In the climax of the storyline, Anna’s hallucination of Peter goaded her to kill his sister, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), arguing that killing Faison’s (Anders Hove) last remaining child was the only way she could ensure her safety and that of her family. But instead of shooting Britt, Anna fired her weapon at Peter, freeing herself from his unwelcome presence in her psyche… at least for now.

Ramsey originally joined the General Hospital cast in 2017 as Peter, the secret son of Faison and Alex Devane (also played by Finola Hughes). Peter wreaked all manor of havoc, from deceiving and kidnapping Maxie Jones, (Kirsten Storms), the mother of his daughter, Bailey Lu (Miley and Riley Plonski), to colluding with supervillains like Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) before he was finally stopped for good in 2022, courtesy of Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) striking a fatal blow to his head with a tire iron to prevent him from further harming her daughter, Maxie.

Four years after his final appearance as Peter, Ramsey briefly came back to GH in January 2026, when Anna — who was being held hostage and pumped full of drugs at the behest of the evil Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) — first hallucinated Peter’s presence. At the time, the actor told TV Insider that he had embraced the chance to work with Finola Hughes again and thought his character’s presence in the storyline was fitting, noting that Peter “didn’t have a choice to be born [Cesar] Faison’s son, or to be gifted with Faison’s genetics, but he certainly was taught by Faison. So, it made a lot of sense that Peter would be a symbolic manifestation of Anna Devane’s guilty conscience, based on some of the things she’s gone through in her life.”

Anna subsequently wound up in a mental institution in France and was off camera for several months. In July, when Anna was seen again, she appeared to be back on the road to mental health — that is, until Ramsey made a surprise return as a figment of Anna’s imagination, revealing to the audience that she was still psychologically unwell.

Ramsey has made regular appearances as Peter since then, with the character egging on Anna’s demented plan to kill Britt — and Jason (Steve Burton), if he got in her way. But now that Anna has broken the psychological hold her vision of her nephew had on her, GH is once again saying goodbye to Ramsey.
