General Hospital Fans Are Outraged Over Jacinda’s Exit: ‘Make It Make Sense!’
Jacinda’s gone — and General Hospital fans aren’t happy about it, making their feelings known online in the wake of Paige Herschell’s final air date in the role.
GH Fans Speak Out About Jacinda’s Fate
Jacinda was written out of the Port Charles universe — for storyline-dictated reasons, Soap Opera Digest confirmed — on the August 11 episode. On screen, she shared an emotional parting with her lover, Michael (Rory Gibson), after he broke up with her for drugging his ex-wife Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) drink and potentially endangering the two young children the couple share.
Though Herschell had only been on the show for a little over a year, her exit was met with plenty of outcry online. “You all did Jacinda dirty,” @joysgramma complained on X (formerly Twitter). Echoed @KRedefined, “I’m annoyed that they got rid of Jacinda… they barely gave the actress decent material and her and Michael were nice to watch and look at.” Another X user, @TinaD0528, lamented, “Jacinda and Michael were a great pair. They showed a genuine caring towards each other, honesty, and were a great sounding board for each other. Paige was a wonderful addition. I will miss her.”
On the Soap Opera Digest Official Facebook Page, Jamie Wratchford wrote, “I was hoping she would stay around for a while 😔. I did like the chemistry between Michael and Jacinda.” X user @Daysyrghfan vented, “Make it make sense!! She is beautiful and an amazing actress. Let go for no reason and Jacinda was perfect for Michael. From what I am seeing online she is well loved too. Bring her back.” @AneetaABEF on X proclaimed, “I really liked this character and the lovely actress who played her has such a transparent and expressive face. Would love to have this character back on the show.”
Other viewers expressed their frustration that Jacinda was banished from Port Charles for her actions while Willow continues to get away with a litany of crimes, namely shooting and subsequently drugging Drew (Cameron Mathison). X user @DestroyerButler huffed, “Willow has done far worse things than Jacinda. Can’t wait ’til the day she gets knocked down a peg or two.”
With Lucy (Lynn Herring) pushing Serena (Kelly Kruger) into Michael’s orbit in a scheme to seduce him into giving up his Deception shares, many viewers could see the writing on the wall and predict that now that he’s single, Serena will be the next woman in his life. “I totally believe they’re going to hook him up with Serena,” Geraldine Dalea commented on Soapoperadigest.com. “But I like Jacinda so much more for Michael.”
Still, unlike some of Michael’s other exes, Jacinda didn’t die — so some fans are hoping this means Jacinda — and Herschell — might return to the show down the line. “I hope she makes a splash with the money Michael gave her and comes back like gangbusters!” Helene Guarneri DeNitto commented on the Digest Facebook Page.
Carmela Ewing is also banking on a comeback — but she has an even bigger idea for Jacinda’s return. “She will be back,” Ewing posted on Facebook. “Maybe with a Michael Jr.”
