General Hospital Comings & Goings: Carlo Rota Reveals Sidwell Isn’t Done Yet
Carlo Rota has shared a new hint about Jenz Sidwell’s future on General Hospital — confirming that viewers will be seeing the villain again in the near future despite viewers learning that he’d taken a plea deal off-screen that would keep him behind bars for 31 years.
Sidwell Will Be Back on GH Soon, Carlo Rota Says
Rota shared the update during GH Fan Club Weekend at the beginning of August, where he hosted an event with his wife, Nazneen Contractor (Justine). Soap Central reports that, during the gathering, Rota told the audience that Sidwell will be shown at Pentonville as his storyline continues — and his scenes will feature another familiar Port Charles face. “I am in prison with another character from the show,” Rota teased. “We share a cell.”
Sidwell was last seen on the July 6 episode, when he met with Jordan (Tanisha Harper) at the police station and tried to enlist her help. When Jordan refused, Sidwell vowed revenge, keeping the threat of retaliation in play even as he was being removed as an immediate threat.
Rota joined the cast of GH back in August 2024, and his character, Jenz Sidwell, became a major antagonist when he brought his smuggling operations to Port Charles. Highlights of his extensive rap sheet include poisoning Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), shooting Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard) dead in cold blood, blackmailing Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Laura (Genie Francis) and working with WSB double agent Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to construct a dangerous cold fusion reactor.
The authorities finally caught up to Sidwell on July 2 when he was holding Sonny, Justine, Ava (Maura West) and Ethan (Nathan Dean) hostage at the Jerome Art Gallery. Sidwell was promptly arrested for his crimes.
The character’s legal fallout was later referenced on the August 11 episode. Molly (Kristen Vaganos) told Cody (Josh Kelly) that she wouldn’t be prosecuting Sidwell in court because he’d taken a plea deal. Molly added that Sidwell would be locked up for 31 years — possibly the rest of his life — with the possibility of parole in about 26 years.
The show is also building a new story around the fate of Sidwell’s holdings, with both Sonny and Drew (Cameron Mathison) poised to make a play for his assets, which are poised to go up for auction.
In his comments at GH Fan Club Weekend, Rota did not specify an airdate for Sidwell’s next appearance, and he did not identify the other character Sidwell will be sharing a cell with — but Curtis (Donnell Turner) would appear to be the most obvious candidate, given that he is about to get the verdict in his trial for assaulting Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) and his connection to Jordan.
