The Young and the Restless: Is Abby Pregnant With a Miracle Baby?
On the November 3 episode of The Young and the Restless, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) felt dizzy and nauseous, prompting her to wonder if she could be pregnant. The possibility would be a miracle for Abby, who had previously been told that scarring from a miscarriage had left her unable to carry a child.
Why Abby Was Told She Couldn’t Carry a Baby
In April 2016, Abby was married to Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) and expecting their first child when his young son from a previous relationship, Max, caused her to tumble down the stairs at the GCAC on the way to her baby shower. The fall caused Abby to miscarry, and the tragedy ultimately contributed to the end of her marriage to Stitch.
Abby went on to marry Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) and hoped to start a family with him. In January 2021, they learned why they were struggling to conceive. The doctor explained to Abby that she had an unusual amount of scar tissue in her uterus from the earlier miscarriage, and it was too extensive to be removed. Although Abby was still producing eggs, the scarring meant that there was no place on the uterine wall for an embryo to implant. Getting pregnant, in other words, was a medical impossibility.
Abby was heartbroken that her dream of giving birth had been crushed, but she and Chance decided to try surrogacy and asked Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) to carry their child. When Chance learned that his sperm count was too low, Abby asked Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) to be the sperm donor. The resulting embryo was implanted into Mariah, who gave birth to Dominic in August 2021.
Abby and Chance split in 2022 after she cheated on him with Devon. Abby and Devon tied the knot in November 2024, and they have been raising their son together.
But while discussing babies with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), Abby recognized that her symptoms sounded an awful lot like pregnancy. After everything she went through to become a mother to Dominic, could Abby really be pregnant despite being told she couldn’t carry a child? Or is something else causing her nausea and dizziness?
