INTERVIEW

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Dylan Is ‘Not Luna 2.0’ Promises Sydney Bullock (Exclusive)

Comments

Originally appearing in just a handful of episodes as Hayes’s art teacher, Ms. Dylan, Sydney Bullock then returned to Bold and Beautiful for some additional appearances. Now, she’s on contract with the soap and involved in a front-burner storyline as Dylan’s growing closeness with Will (Crew Morrow) sparks jealousy in his girlfriend, Electra (Laneya Grace). Soap Opera Digest chatted with the daytime newcomer about her journey and to get the scoop on what Dylan is really up to with Will!

Return Engagement

Bullock made her first appearance back in July 2025 as the art teacher that Luna (Lisa Yamada) used to lure Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) into a deadly trap. “I was originally just supposed to be on for three episodes, with possibly more, and then they added on to about seven episodes,” the actress explains. “I knew it was kind of up in the air if they were going to bring me back, but after a couple months of not hearing anything, I didn’t think so.”

But then B&B came calling to ask her to return for more, though the invitation came at a slightly inopportune moment for the young performer. “I was so excited,” Bullock enthuses about getting the news. “I was not expecting it. I was actually leaving the next day for almost a month-long trip to Europe. I had never traveled abroad before, and the night before I left, my team called and was like, ‘Hey, we know you’re going on this trip, but right in the middle of it, Bold and the Beautiful wants to have you back.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, Great. I can cancel the trip, or I’ll come back in the middle.’ So I came back in the middle of the trip and was so excited to be back.”

After those episodes where Dylan confessed that she was the one who had killed Luna by accidentally running the psycho down as she was evading capture, Bullock finished her European vacation. And upon her return home, she found herself booked for additional shows and ultimately signing a contract with the soap.

Character Flaws

Given how Dylan was initally introduced, the character had to be developed and fleshed out in order to now be a featured player in a major storyline. “I’m always learning new things,” Bullock shares with a chuckle. “I had no idea that I was going to be the one to kill Luna. And then I did not know about the homeless storyline until I read it in the script. As I was reading the script, I was learning all these new things about the character, and then they’ve given me more hints on where they want the storyline to go, especially entangling with R.J. [Brayan Nicoletti] and Electra and Will. We’ve got this messy little foursome going on. So it’s always a fun surprise to see what’s coming up.”

Sharing that she played her first episodes back “a little more ambiguous” as she wasn’t yet sure in which direction Dylan was going, the actress now feels she has a better handle on the character. “I think many [viewers] are curious to see if she’s got some evil intentions,” Bullock notes. “But my interpretation for now is that she’s not evil, she just maybe doesn’t make all the best decisions. She’s just a girl that’s been through so much and is trying to figure out life. But I do think that she’s very genuine at heart. I think she has a big heart, but she just maybe makes questionable decisions sometimes. Which is understandable because she’s been through a lot.”

Deja Vu

Bullock is well aware that B&B viewers believe Dylan is evil and up to no good, trying to steal Will away from Electra. “Honestly, I think she’s just a girl with a crush,” she argues. “And it’s a difficult situation, because she cares about Electra. She doesn’t want to be disrespectful, but she gets swept up in this guy who was really sweet and helped her out and took her in. But I think it’s kind of a tug of war in her mind because she wants to be respectful, but she’s got a little crush on him. So when he seems to be maybe flirting back, I think it’s hard not to get swept up in it. What is a girl to do?”

She also wants to assure fans worried that this storyline is going to be another variation on Luna’s obsessive love for Will that they have nothing to fear. “As far as I know, I’m not Luna in a mask or Luna with plastic surgery to look like Dylan,” Bullock shares with a laugh. “I think Dylan, she’s genuine. She’s not a psychopath. She can maybe be a bad girl — not evil — but I think that she’s maybe got a little bit of rebellion in her. So not Luna 2.0, but maybe not quite as sweet and innocent as Electra. As far as I know, she’s not psycho. She’s not putting people in cages. She’s just maybe a little looser on the moral high ground, unintentionally. But she gets swept up.”
