Deadline reports that Cavallari will play a reality TV producer overseeing a reboot of Cowboy Hearts, a dating show where women compete to win the heart of Novlan’s character, a cowboy. However, when Cavallari’s character falls for the guy herself, things get complicated. The film is written by Paris Herbert-Taylor and directed by Traci Hays.
Novlan has been playing Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan on B&B since July 2020, but the actor also has some experience with romantic comedies. He has appeared in 2019’s My Best Friend’s Christmas, 2022’s Christmas Class Reunion, and 2024’s Debbie Macomber’s Joyful Mrs. Miracle.
Cavallari first found fame as a cast member of the MTV reality series Laguna Beach and its spinoff, The Hills. She then turned to acting, appearing in episodes of series like Veronica Mars, CSI: NY, and The Middle, as well as in films like Cheerleader Camp and Van Wilder: Freshman Year. Cavallari also hosts the long-running lifestyle podcast Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari. She previously worked with Roku earlier this year to produce the 20th anniversary special The Reunion: Laguna Beach for the network.
“After the success of The Reunion: Laguna Beach, we knew we weren’t done working with Kristin,” Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals, Roku Media, said in a statement. “Casting one of reality TV’s most iconic stars as a reality TV producer was too good to resist — and she absolutely delivers in the role. Kristin and Tanner are fantastic together, the movie is a blast, and we can’t wait for audiences to fall for Cowboy Hearts next year.”
