General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms Says Break-In Led to ‘Unnecessary Custody Case’
General Hospital star Kirsten Storms, who last aired as Maxie Jones in March 2026, is responding to the custody case filed by her ex-husband, Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny Zacchara, GH; ex-Jake/Stefan DiMera, Days of Our Lives), saying it stemmed from the alleged break-in at her former Tennessee apartment.
Storms addressed the situation on Instagram, posting a December 3, 2025, Franklin Police Department report documenting police follow-up to a November 22 call she made about a possible burglary at the apartment.
“I’m only doing this because that lead to an **unnecessary custody case** being filed against me,” she wrote of her decision to make the report public. She added, “I’m now being asked to attend mediation. Not being asked to be in front of a judge.”
Barash previously obtained an emergency restraining order against Storms, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. In his filing, Barash expressed concern about Storms’s ability to care for their daughter, Harper, and requested that she undergo a mental-health evaluation.
Kirsten Storms Addresses Her Mental Health
Storms disputed the use of her mental health in connection with the alleged break-in and the custody matter, emphasizing that she has been proactive about her own medical care as well as Harper’s. “The MOST important person to me,” she wrote of her daughter.
Storms also said she has worked with the same psychologist for years, describing her as “f’ing incredible” and saying the psychologist understands “the kind of therapy sessions I need.”
“When ‘mental health illness’ is used as a reason to disregard a very real crime, like a burglary & break-in, that I was working to resolve with the apartment building and the Franklin Police Department, it is offensive,” Storms wrote.
According to the police report, Storms told an officer that she had been away from the apartment for work and medical treatment from approximately August 1 through August 9. When she returned, she noticed damage around the deadbolt lock on the apartment door.
She also reported that several items were missing from the apartment but later turned up inside her vehicle. Storms told police she had not put the items there and did not know who had done so. She additionally reported several unknown devices connected to her Wi-Fi router and said she believed someone had accessed it.
The report states that Storms provided photos, videos and screenshots for police to review. It also notes that no offense report had been created during the initial response and that no evidence had been submitted at that time. Because maintenance work on the door had continued and time had passed since the reported incident, the apartment had not been processed as of December 3.
In her Instagram post, Storms offered additional details about how she believed someone could have placed the missing items inside her Jeep Wrangler. She said the vehicle’s doors had been removed, allowing someone to leave the items on a seat inside. “That was how someone was able to continue to give the items back that were removed from my apartment,” she wrote.
Storms and Barash met while working together on General Hospital. They married in 2013, welcomed Harper in January 2014 and divorced in 2016.
