Kate Mansi Exits General Hospital: How Kristina Was Written Out of Port Charles

Comments

As soon as Kristina got the notification that she’d been accepted to medical school, the countdown began to portrayer Kate Mansi’s final episode of General Hospital. After making all the necessary arrangements to fly to California to begin studying to become a doctor at UCLA, Kristina said good-bye to Port Charles on the June 12 episode. Here’s how her exit went down.

While I’m Away

Having already shared a tearful farewell with her parents, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Kristina met with her half siblings Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Michael (Rory Gibson) at the Metro Court Gardens. She assured them both that she was ready for this next step, but appeared wistful. Kristina thanked them for taking her to the airport and urged them to lean on each other while she was gone. After initially joking about the idea, Molly admitted she and Michael weren’t as close to each other as they each were to Kristina, and Kristina insisted that had to change.

Molly protested that her sister couldn’t just declare them besties, but Kristina playfully noted, “Too bad, I just did.” She then proceeded to spill all the tea so they’d both be up to speed on one another’s lives.

Kristina informed Michael that Molly was in love with Cody, but couldn’t bring herself to say the “L” word to him because she was scared to admit he might be “the one.” Michael understood, given how Molly previously thought TJ was the one. When Kristina started to tell him why Cody might be the one, Molly started to leave, jokingly crying, “Kill me now,” but Kristina ordered her sister to sit back down and mused that Cody keeps Molly focused on the here and now. Molly didn’t see why any of this was Michael’s business, and Kristina teased that she was about to learn all about his.

Kristina then broke down for Molly how Michael is forever tied to ex-wife Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) through their two young children, Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko), and blasted Willow for making everyone think that Michael shot Drew (Cameron Mathison), which Kris insisted he had not. Worse, Willow has been all over Chase (Josh Swickard) lately, which means Michael is stuck between Willow and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton).

Kristina allowed that Michael has his girlfriend, Jacinda (Paige Herschell), to talk to and urged Molly to get to know her as well. But she wanted Michael and Molly to be able to talk to each other if they needed to vent about their partners.

Kristina asked if they had a deal, and Michael chuckled that this was a prime example of why he was going to miss her. Molly agreed it could be great to spend more time with Michael. “Hard as you try, it’s not gonna keep us from missing you,” she told her sister. “But we love you for trying.”

Parting Ways

After their meal, everyone got up to head to the airport, and Kristina apologized for being pushy. “But I want each of you to be the person the other can call,” she reiterated. “Okay? To show up for each other, no questions asked. Because that’s what you’ve been for me.”

Molly and Michael promised that they would hold down the fort and keep an eye on each other. “You don’t have to worry about us,” Michael assured her. “We got this. Go live your dream.”

Kristina smiled and hugged both of her siblings, though at the end, her eyes betrayed just a hint of trepidation mixed in with the excitement as she prepared for her next adventure.
