General Hospital’s Maurice Benard Will Officiate Daughter’s Wedding: ‘I’m Terrified!’
As Sonny Corinthos, General Hospital‘s Maurice Benard has stared down death multiple times, fought off mafia rivals, and survived amnesia, claustrophobia and countless heartbreaks. But in real life, the upcoming wedding of his youngest daughter, Cassidy — which he is set to officiate — has the Daytime Emmy-winning actor shaking in his boots!
Maurice Benard is Officiating Daughter Cassidy’s Wedding
On Monday, October 12, Benard shared the big news on Instagram, revealing that his daughter’s wedding was just days away. “Friday, my baby girl @cassidybenard is getting married, and I’m terrified!!!” he wrote.
The General Hospital star explained that his nerves had less to do with the responsibility of leading the ceremony than with the prospect of an emotional father-of-the-bride moment. “Only because I have to officiate and I’m thinking it’s gonna be through a lot of tears,” he admitted.
“Wish me luck🎁,” Benard added.
Cassidy is the youngest of the three three daughters Benard shares with his wife of 36 years, Paula Smith Benard. The 27-year-old bride-to-be’s two older sisters are Cailey Benard, who was born in 1994, and Heather Benard, Paula’s sister, who the couple adopted when she was 15 years old following the 2008 passing of her biological mother.
The Benards also have a son, Joshua, 21, who played the role of Adam Wright on GH in 2022 and also appeared as a younger version of his father’s character, Sonny, in 2018.
Benard celebrated Cassidy’s engagement on social media in April 2025. “My baby girl Cassidy is getting married to a great man @anthony_cammarata,” he wrote. “They went to Japan and he surprised her in Disneyland it truly is a fairytale.”
The following month, he shared a video of the romantic proposal and marveled, “People talk about soulmates these two are two peas in a pod.”
Benard declared, “I could never see either of them with anyone else I love them both tremendously.”
