General Hospital Recap: Lulu Wants Obrecht Gone, Sonny and Turner Bond, and More!
Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) wasn’t actually in the August 6 episode of General Hospital, but she was all a lot of people could talk about. Lulu (Alexa Havins) wanted Carly’s (Laura Wright) help in driving Britt’s mother, Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), out of Port Charles, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) sought Laura’s (Genie Francis) advice about Rocco’s (Finn Carr) curiosity about Britt, and Jason (Steve Burton) urged Liesl to tell Rocco the whole truth about herself and her daughter. Plus, Chase (Josh Swickard) tried to get through to Michael (Rory Gibson), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) confided in Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson), Sonny (Maurice Benard) cozied up to ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor), and Tracy (Jane Elliot) put her foot down with Deception, much to Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) chagrin.
A Big Favor
Lulu met Carly for lunch at the Metro Court, first apologizing for being late, and then complaining about Obrecht cheering for Rocco, who was playing on the Corinthos Coffee team at the softball game. She begged Carly to help her drive Liesl out of town, but Carly tried to claim a conflict of interest, given that Obrecht saved Willow’s life when she had leukemia. After pointing out Carly didn’t like Willow, either, Lulu realized that she just didn’t want to create a conflict with Jason. Carly admitted that was true, and when Lulu continued to press, said she’d need proof that Obrecht was an actual threat.

Lulu insisted that Obrecht was filling Rocco’s head with lies, telling him that Britt wasn’t that terrible. She argued that Britt took precious time with her son away from her, not just the months after his birth, but the time leading up to it, where they would have been eagerly anticipating their child. Although understanding, Carly pointed out that Britt did grow and change, and even died saving Josslyn’s life. Lulu worried that Rocco was starting to think of Britt as another mother, but Carly noted that he had to realize that he wasn’t biologically related to the deceased doc. “But she carried him,” Lulu complained. “For nine months. She gave birth to him. Took care of him. For all I know, she nursed him. Britt stole that connection from me. And I am terrified, Carly… I am terrified that she could steal so much more.”
Carly reminded her that Britt was no longer a threat, but Lulu felt her son slipping away, so Carly warned her that fighting so hard for her son could potentially drive him further away. She urged Lulu to let the facts speak for themselves, and felt that Rocco would eventually see that she and Dante were right all along. Carly also assured Lulu she’d help her deal with Obrecht if necessary. “But you need to think long and hard before you pull that trigger,” she cautioned. “Because if you go up against Obrecht… You’re gonna make things even worse than they are now.”

The Unvarnished Truth
After the softball game in the park, Obrecht approached Rocco, who was debriefing with Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Jason. After being introduced to Danny and confirming he was Jason’s son, Obrecht invited them all to join her for ice cream to celebrate their win. The boys were eager for a treat, but Jason sent them to pack up the equipment so he could talk to Obrecht in private. He informed her that she was putting Rocco in a difficult position because his parents didn’t want him talking with her. Obrecht didn’t want to upset Rocco, but he was curious about Britt, and she loved talking about her daughter. Jason understood, but pointed out that Britt and Rocco weren’t related and ordered her not to come between the teen and his parents.
Packing up, Rocco confided to Danny that he did kind of want to get to know Obrecht, but seeing how upset it was making his parents, he wondered if he should back off. Danny reminded him that it was his life, and he had the right to learn more about it. Meanwhile, Jason wondered if Obrecht told Rocco that it was her idea to steal the embryo, and when she jokingly deflected, he suggested that she try telling Rocco the whole truth, including the less-than-flattering parts. When the teens returned ready for ice cream, Obrecht hastily made an excuse to back out, promising a rain check. She congratulated them again on their victory, then took off. Rocco wondered if Britt was like her mother, and Jason declared she was her own person. “I wish there was a way I could have known her,” Rocco sighed. With a knowing look in his eye, Jason replied: “Yeah, me too.”

The Next Move
Dante stopped by Laura’s office but couldn’t update her on Rocco’s game because he’d been on duty. She made sure he was now off duty because she needed to discuss something with him very off the record. “I want to know whether or not your father kidnapped Marco Rios,” she declared. They agreed that Marco’s story explaining his injuries was a complete fabrication, but Dante noted that they had no evidence against Sonny. He wondered if she was asking him to investigate the kidnapping, but she explained she was really just looking for his opinion on whether it was worth pursuing.
Dante asserted that while they know what really happened, they can’t prove it, and Marco won’t make a statement, so it’s basically a dead end. Laura confessed she was actually kind of relieved because she worried about what Sonny’s arrest would do to Rocco. Dante agreed, as his son was dealing with more than enough already. Laura tried to get him to understand Rocco’s curiosity regarding Britt, and he allowed that maybe his son needed to hear both sides. “And what’s the harm?” he added with a shrug. “The woman is dead.” Dante admitted that he wished there was someone other than Obrecht that Rocco could talk to about Britt, but while he was willing to let his son continue talking to Liesl, Lulu would be another story. He thanked Laura for her advice, but feared there was no easy solution to any of this.

Good Effort
At the Metro Court pool, Chase briefly talked with Michael about the softball game before switching the topic to Willow. “I’m gonna stop you right there, Chase,” Michael said flatly. “We’re not having this conversation.” In an effort to get Michael to agree to hear him out, Chase played a little dirty by bringing up how Michael broke up his marriage. He tried to explain how Willow regrets her actions and urged Michael to give her a break so these mistakes don’t cost her her children. Michael argued that he wasn’t about to go against the judge’s ruling since Willow had been exhibiting her own bad behavior lately.
Chase didn’t believe that Willow was a danger to her children, but Michael shot back that he didn’t have all the facts and insisted on waiting until the visitation hearing in October. Chase begged him to defy the court and stop punishing Willow. “Compassion is a luxury I cannot afford where Willow is concerned,” Michael declared angrily. “Wiley and Amelia have to come first.” Chase argued that he wasn’t putting the kids first because they want to see their mother, so he was punishing them as well. With that, Chase strode off, leaving Michael stewing.

An Unlikely Pair
Sonny brought a limping ADA Turner to the hospital after she injured herself during the softball game. She insisted she had it under control, but after she winced in pain, he helped her over to a couch to wait. They were bickering about the game when Willow approached to check on her, and Sonny politely requested another nurse. Willow haltingly agreed and gave Turner some paperwork to fill out. Sonny explained to the curious ADA how Willow got caught up with Drew, and he destroyed her life, lamenting that Michael and Willow weren’t able to work things out before she lost custody of her kids. As they discussed the custody case, Sonny mused that he was surprised the judge gave Michael sole custody, and Willow didn’t even get visitation. Justine was surprised Sonny had sympathy for Willow, and as the conversation began to take a more serious turn, he pivoted to teasing her about her team losing. They were joking and smiling when another nurse arrived to take Justine to an examination room. “I was safe!” she shouted as she was wheeled off. “You were out!” he playfully called after her. Later, when she emerged on crutches, Justine was surprised to find Sonny waiting for her with a wheelchair.

After informing Isaiah that Sonny and Turner had requested another nurse, Willow noted how out of everyone in Michael’s family, Sonny has been the most decent to her. The doctor praised her care of a young patient and assured Willow that the judge would see she’s a good mother and change the ruling. Willow complained about how she wouldn’t listen as everyone told her how awful Drew was, adding that he was even blackmailing the co-chief of staff. As Isaiah’s eyes widened in surprise, she quickly backpedaled, stammering as she begged him to ignore her slip of the tongue. When he agreed to keep her secret, Willow thanked him for being a good friend like Liz and Chase. He didn’t realize she and Chase were close, so Willow explained how they were once married and that she had cheated on him with Michael. Even so, she praised what a great guy Chase was. “He’s kind, reasonable, understanding,” Willow sighed. “Everything I wrongly assumed Michael would be.”
The Decision Is Made… Or Is It?
At the Quartermaine mansion, Lucy was growing impatient as she, Maxie, and Brook Lynn waited for Tracy. When she finally joined them, Tracy announced a change in plans and declared that going to the police about Sonny’s money laundering would be a big mistake. The others were naturally confused, given that reporting the crime had been Tracy’s idea in the first place, but she explained that she’d now considered all the angles and feared exposing Sonny could hurt Deception. Tracy noted that their assets could be frozen, and they could all be personally investigated because the authorities might not believe they were ignorant of Sonny’s actions.

Maxie protested that if they kept quiet and the truth came out anyway, they would be completely screwed. Lucy took Tracy’s side, and Brook Lynn joined them in not going after Sonny because she didn’t want to upset Gio any more than he already was. Maxie still wanted to do the right thing, so Tracy ended the arguing and put it to a vote. Brook Lynn reluctantly sided with Tracy and Lucy, overruling an irritated Maxie. After their guests left, Tracy assured Brook Lynn that they made the right move, then hoped Maxie wouldn’t go to the police on her own. “How can you be so casual about this?” Brook Lynn fretted. “Granny, if Maxie goes to the cops, we are all going down.”
